Okay.....some of you may remember that I posted pics of about 20 of these blocks a few months ago. The fabrics all came from a swap I was involved in. I peiced the blocks and put the top together but, now need a border. I want a simple plain border as this quilt is a remake of an 1896 pattern. What I need is suggestions for color....? Should I go with a plain dark color or a dark multi color or a brown or a blue or...you get the idea...I have every color combination possible going on here so there are tons of possibilities.

Help! It's 11:16 pm and my brain is fried and I have to work at the Quilt Shop tomorrow and want to pick up the border fabric then. I hope I catch some late nighters or early risers!

I'd use black or another dark color to pull it all together. That is a very beautiful quilt - I would love to make one sometime.

Color choices are really great.

What about one of those absolutely beautiful marbled fabrics in darker tones. The ones that look like they've been sponge painted only much more subtle. If I could think right now, I'd remember who does them LOL.

Ooooh, this is what i would do. See bottom of quilt, second row from bottom, second square in on left side? lol I would do someting like that, like a tan coloured marble wide border, with a small chocolate brown inner and outer border lol Beautiful quilt!

I agree with the above!

There's a lot going on with this quilt. I think a simple black border would do 'er justice!

That it a lovely quilt , your work is inspiring. I would opt for a dark green self patterned border or possibly dark wine.

when you look at the photo, which color(s) grab your attention first, then second. (mine go straight to the red, then the blue, for example). those are the two colors i would use for an inner and outer border. (i woiuld do the blue as inner, red as outer). I would bind it in a very dark brown, or a superdark blue.

teeny-tiny florals, mottled, or marbled

All suggestions are great. I like the darker border ideas.

My preference would be a deep burgandy or wine color for the border.
