I also like the second one better it is balanced and pleasing to the eye. Your eye doesn't jump around looking for a focal point.

Wow, what a coincidence. I was just searching the internet for information on the Hidden Wells quilt. Where it was mentioned, the internet instructions did say to use an odd number of fabrics and 5 or 7 seemed to be the most favored numbers.
With that said, I vote for #2 above. However, it is your quilt and you should go with the one that is most pleasing to your eye. I will have to explore the program you are using. Much cheaper to scan the fabric and test the pattern with actual fabric before making the quilt and deciding that you don't like it at all. Good luck. Please share the actual quilt with us when it is made. |
I have been wanting to try one of these...Thanks so much for the pictures and the different variations. I really love your colors; my favorite pick would be #2!

The second one is my choice.

I like the second one best. Just seems to need something to add a bit of sparkle or pop ... but I still love it.

It seems to be a little more toned down with the browns and golds and the pinky purples are a little more notice able.

I like the second one also.

After squinting at the 2nd one, I think you need a very light color for the center of the blocks that are light. One that is as light as the black centers are dark. I am learning that the more contrast, the better the design shows. What program are you using to design these blocks?

I just took a pic of the fabrics and am using a program that my hubby put on the computer when we got it years ago. It is called paint.net. it is a really cool program for playing with photos.

I like this one, the colors pop more!! Love your choices of colors

okay now after sitting and playing with the fabric I think that I now have it narrowed down to two possibilities. these two are my fav so far. I did change out two of the fabrics in both of these. It really changes the look of it. what do you guys think?
1 and 3 are just a different fabric placements. but it really changes the look of the top. |
