Okay. i am in a bit of a stump. I am not sure how I am liking this mix of fabric. I think that I need maybe one more pinky batik to make it look right. or maybe just playing with the fabric placement. Now I did this in paint shop. it is a computer program. Here is a pic of what I am thinking of doing with the fabric. what do you guys think? this is supposed to be the hidden wells pattern. I know that there are points missing. I I don't have the steadiest hand when it comes to drawing a straight line. thanks for your input.

these are the fabrics I am using. sorry they are really fuzzy

An uneven number of fabrics always looks best in that pattern. I don't think you need another pinky batik. You need some kind of a zinger though. You might try a different order of strips and see what you get.

nativetexan 12-17-2010 11:53 AM

yeah, so far i'm liking it!

amma 12-17-2010 11:59 AM

Maybe a little bright color in the center of the maroon blocks? I really like these fabrics and pattern :D:D:D

Sadiemae 12-17-2010 12:12 PM

I would say follow your instincts.

pab 12-17-2010 12:19 PM

Need some other color to make it pop? It's your quilt and there are no quilt police on the board...good luck pab

EagarBeez 12-17-2010 12:31 PM

the colors are beautiful, maybe switching the purplish color with the burgundy

whatever you choose I am sure it will be beautiful

Prism99 12-17-2010 12:50 PM

I'm thinking there is a lot of grey in the colors. Maybe switch out the grayed gold with a brighter yellow to make the purples pop?

okay here is another alternate of the fabric. I am not sure yet if it is how I like it. You guys are the best at helping me make up my mind.

same set of fabric just different placement of the burgandy and the lite one.

I like the most of the first one better. BUT keep the center block where you have it from the second setup.

sahm4605 12-17-2010 01:40 PM

I don't know what it is, but there is just something not right about the fabrics. it is either the beige one or the blackish one. I just can't figure it out. or maybe it is the burgundy. I just can't quite put my finger on it. I think that I might need to go let another pinky fq to help balance it out better.

I think you need to add another dark strip right between the pink and that light batik. It needs to be a narrow strip. I do like this one better.

clem55 12-17-2010 04:30 PM

I like the second one best.

OH, love this as it is.. not just because its all a shade of some of my favorite colors, but because its striking with the light/dark combinations.. Great job!

I love the second layout. It seems to have a bit more motion / interest. Just my two cents.

I think that I have found a new toy on the computer for quilting. well at least for some blocks and patterns. hehe was playing with the fabric placement. what do you guys think of this one? It seems to be a little more toned down with the browns and golds and the pinky purples are a little more notice able.

same fabrics just in different places

Oooooo! I like this one even better!

asmmauer 12-17-2010 05:51 PM

I like the second one the best

glenda5253 12-17-2010 09:35 PM

I like the third one best. You need that centered block like in the second and third and in the third the darkest fabric is not so 'in your face'.

C.Cal Quilt Girl 12-17-2010 09:55 PM

I like the first :)

Halo 12-17-2010 10:31 PM

My first choice would be the second one. The second choice would be the third one. Both would be beautiful. I favor the brighter colors.

Whitney60 12-18-2010 03:30 AM

I like the second. Looking forward to seeing it when it done.

smagruder 12-18-2010 04:38 AM

second one is great, but I like the first too. I love your choice of fabrics. Sorry, I have not advice on this one.

Whatever you do, it will be beautiful with those fabrics.

sewTinker 12-18-2010 04:47 AM

I like the second placement better. It has more of a sparkle. Fabric #2 (in your line-up) works great in the second layout. If you go with the first layout, I would consider replacing fabric #2 with something of more contrast or Jump.

I think it is so cool that you can do this in the computer! lots of time setting it all up, perhaps; but, well worth it. I must figure out how to do this. very clever.

EDIT: I just saw the third one. Oh Yes! The third one is fabulous! :-)

EagarBeez 12-18-2010 05:19 AM

The 3rd one is nice, but, a bit subdued if that is what your going for, but, I still like the 2nd one best

#1piecemaker 12-18-2010 05:19 AM

Now, what was it again that you needed help with?? I think they gonna be great. Maybe a burgundy border but otherwise, they are gorgeous.

nannya54 12-18-2010 06:02 AM

I like the 2nd one best - there doesn't seem to be as much of the gold. I think the gold may be throwing the colors off. A little, like in the 2nd one, goes a long way.

sandyo 12-18-2010 06:18 AM

I like the third, not sure why just feels right but what you like is important, Looks like a great way not to waste fabric

quilt nut 12-18-2010 08:05 AM

I think black will make it pop.

LouBert 12-18-2010 10:42 AM

I love the second one, it looks like a totally different quilt than the first !!! BUT, everyone here has an opinion, it is YOU that the quilt must speak to !

what program are you using on the computer to make designs?

vic 12-18-2010 11:14 AM

I like the 2nd one. Maybe on the first, replace the black center with gold?

me too; and I don't think it needs additional fabric - looks good with the ones you're already using

pjustice63 12-18-2010 12:39 PM

Love that second one. Personally don't think it needs anything else.

I am actually using paint. net program that is on my computer it is a painting one where you can play with photos. I just took a pic of the fabric layed out in the order that I wanted it to be and went from there. it took a little work playing with it but it is going good now.

Tweety2911 12-18-2010 04:39 PM

I like the second one. It looks kaleidoscopic. I also like the color choices.

Dolphyngyrl 12-18-2010 05:11 PM

I ALSO LIKE THE SECOND BEST. I PERSONALLY LIKE THE COLORS IN YOUR QUILT, BUT TO EACH HIS OWN

IBQUILTIN 12-18-2010 05:17 PM

What would happen if you switched the white sashings for gold?
