I've just put borders on my quilt. I put it on the bed and I think it is a bit too long. I was trying to measure for a queen size and I guess I should have put it on the bed before I added all of the borders. The width is OK. Question - should I take the top and bottom borders off? I'm going to try to post a picture.

It worked!!
This is the first time I've done this :) |
I would leave the borders on.

How long is it? You could always dress the bed with the pillows UNDER the quilt!
Otherwise, you could take the top border off and fold/sew the top under to indicate that is the top, binding around the sides and bottom to keep consistency. |
If your beautiful quilt is so long it will be bothersome, you could remove them or you could make your top and bottom borders smaller.
I love the way it is right now! |
I'd leave the borders on. I really like them and love the way the finish off the pattern.

You can always fold extra under your pillows! I can't have a quilt that's too long. Mine are always too short and my feet stick out sometime during the night. I would be in heaven to have one that is "too long".
It's beautiful! |

I like it as it is, and think that it would look unbalanced it you took off the top and bottom borders. I would just fold some of it under at the top under the pillows, as some of the others have.
I do that when I am sleeping under mine anyway, so that I am not grabbing the top of it under my chin in my sleep. |

It's a beautiful quilt very nice the way it is.
Thank you for all of your input. It's nice to have someplace where you can get help :)
beautiful, thanks for sharing with us
I, too, would leave it.
Like some others have said, just fold the extra back under the pillows. Or tuck it in at the foot of the bed. |
I would leave them. It is beautiful.

I think it's beautiful!
Leave it the way it is. Like someone else said, you can put the pillows over it. If you take the borders off of it, you might decide after it's all done, that you want them back on. Will be too late then. Leave it alone and finish it. Then if you REALLY don't like the way it is, let me know, I'll give you my addy. :) :) |
I love it the way it is  I would rather have mine too big, rather then too small
I like it as it is.
it makes so little difference, i'd leave it on. you can always tuck it under the pillows a bit.

I wouldn't take the borders off. It is balanced with them on. Just smoosh them up under the pillows. It's a beautiful quilt.
Remember that quilting will "shrink" the quilt a little. I like too long better than too short.
I love the way it is also and I would rather have one to long than to short. Why mess with perfection :!:
I think I'd leave the quilt as it is. Very pretty!
I would absolutey leave it the way it is. It is absolutely beautiful. Taking the top and bottom borders off will ruin it.
Won't post then posted it 3 times.

I would leave it. I love it just the way it is. I think it will look out of balance if you take them off. Personally, I'd rather have the quilt be a little too big.
I wouldn't change it. I like it just the way it is.
My quilt I made for our bed is 102" x 102" and it is just perfect. I think you will be happy with the extra length. Remember that it will get a little smaller after it is quilted. I wish mine was wider so me and DH wouldn't fight over it in our sleep!
I would leave the borders on. It looks beautiful.
I would leave it alone.
It's beautiful just how it is...better too long than too short...look forward to seeing it when it's done.
Your quilt top is very pretty..personally I would not do anything..the quilting it going to shorten it some, and when it is washed, it will shrink some..better to be a little long than a little short!
I would leave the borders on, if you take them off it would affect the overall look. You can always tuck part of it under your pillow.
Love the colours and design. |
