You could do a wiggly line down the middle of each sashing, and they would intersect at the cornerstones, or you could do silver dollars or umbrellas, or sand buckets, anything to do with the beach theme

I might be able to do a sand bucket. These are all good ideas. I'm sort of thinking waves, but something different at the cornerstones--just the four in the center, because I can't see how the waves would intersect there. A sand bucket, a shell, a plumeria, any of those are do-able for me. These are all good ideas. Thank you.

If you want to stick with flip flops, you could do a curly cue, with it being the flip flop every time you switch directions. I also like the idea of writing out a cute phrase.

Really cute, I like the idea of quilted shells for this one.

Yes, I tried that. I've been drawing it out on paper, but the thong makes it hard to decide where to start or end the curlycue. I've tried traveling too. It just doesn't come out looking the way I want it to. I used some chalk on the Downy quilt I'm using to practice, and I couldn't make it look good. Maybe someone with more experience (or someone who is more artistic) could make it work, but I haven't been able to.

I'll think about it and see if I can draw something out later today. I'm off to bed.

Lots of good ideas there- just wondering if seagulls (in flight) might work? Lovely work- well done.

Cute quilt! How about Starfish in the corners and squiggly lines down the sashing?
