I'm posting a picture of this flip flop quilt I made several weeks ago. I'm going to free motion quilt it. I know what to do with the blocks. I'm going to do some wavy lines reminiscent of sand dunes. I don't know what to do with the sashing. Any ideas? I could stitch in the ditch, or just do straight lines up and down and side to side. Can anyone suggest anything more imaginative?
I had an idea to try to do little flip flops, which would be sort of a kidney bean shape with an inverted "V" for the thong, but I don't know how to join them together and make it look right. If I do that, I would need to do each one individually. What would you do? Maybe I should stick with my original idea, bite the bullet, and live with the tedium of it. |
This is really cute. Could you do something that looks like shells? They would be easier to connect.

My daughter inlaw would love this!!! She is a huge flip flop fan!

Maybe write out "fun in the sun, beach combing, flip flop" or something else fun and catchy?

I like the shells idea.

What about waves, like the waterm since it is blue?

I like the shells idea too. I think I might even have a template for that in one of my books. Even if I only did it at the intersections it would be cute. I also thought of plumerias, which are kind of like stars, only round instead of pointed.

I thought of waves too. That wouldn't be difficult to do. And since I'm kind of a beginner, easy is good.
