I finished this purse today. I bought this fabric before I decided to make a different kind of pocket. Now that I have done the pockets I am not sure the trim at the top works. I pinned it on and decided to just let it sit for a few days to see if I change my mind about putting it on.

What do you think?? Should it go or stay??

quiltsillysandi 07-09-2011 02:22 PM

I think I would like it without..........otherwise, a very pretty purse.....Love the heart....

I think it gives the bag some character! Its rather eclectic, and I like it! Love the heart an bird accessories as well, where did you find them?

LeslieFrost 07-09-2011 02:25 PM

I think that the trim may be too narrow -- it can't compete well enough with the size of the pockets. But the color of the trim is wonderful.

bearisgray 07-09-2011 02:25 PM

I like the bag itself, and the material choices are lovely.

If it was for me, the trim at the top would have to go - because I would catch it on something and lose some of the beads - and then it would look not so nice.

I also think the trim sort of disappears into the print and doesn't show up/off very much.

larkley 07-09-2011 02:27 PM

Ditch the trim. The rest is great!

mhunt1717 07-09-2011 02:29 PM

I like it better without the trim. Very pretty!

Judith1005 07-09-2011 02:29 PM

for myself i would go without the trim. but, the trim would work for someone who likes the eclectic, vintagey fee. i do like the bird and heart trim. adorable. cute bag. cute design.

GreatStarter 07-09-2011 02:30 PM

I think it would be just as pretty without the trim.

crafty gal 07-09-2011 02:44 PM

I personally would not add the trim as I think it takes away from the pretty fabric.

alikat110 07-09-2011 03:13 PM

Not really liking the trim

Lori Peercy 07-09-2011 03:15 PM

I think it is too much with the heart and the bird.

RUSewing 07-09-2011 03:15 PM

Honestly, save the trim for another purse. The trim is beautiful, but isn't focused on enough with these prints, too busy.

Jingle 07-09-2011 03:21 PM

Very nice purse, I would not use the trim. Just my opinion.

ube quilting 07-09-2011 03:26 PM

I think it's a good idea but the wrong color. I would save this trim for a pink bag.

Take the bag to LQS and audition some other trims, maybe in a blue tone.

NICE BAG EVEN WITHOUT THE TRIM!
peace :D

debcavan 07-09-2011 03:28 PM

I think it works. I love the other things on the pocket.

The final test is do you like it. Get six to eight feet away and squint at it. That is a good test.

QuiltnNan 07-09-2011 03:30 PM

i would like it a lot better if it went fully behind the square with the heart in it. i think without the trim at the top, the square would look out of balance and lonesome.

jmabby 07-09-2011 03:33 PM

Nice bag, but would leave the trim off

aurora41 07-09-2011 03:56 PM

Without the trim. Save it for another bag, probably for a solid color.

maine ladybug 07-09-2011 04:35 PM

I think it would be fine either way. I don't like the color of this one though unless it's just showing up on my computer as not really going with the fabrics. So in this case I would leave it off.

needles3thread 07-09-2011 04:39 PM

I wouldn't use the trim -- it doesn't need it.

blueangel 07-09-2011 07:12 PM

I like it

kem77 07-09-2011 07:33 PM

I also agree that the trim does not work for me either, But I do love the trim for another project.

Mrs B 07-09-2011 08:50 PM

I love your purse especially the unusual pocket. Was that your own idea? As for the trim I think I would have used it around the pocket in some way. Your purse is pretty enough with out the trim on the top.

trolleystation 07-10-2011 01:59 AM

I am not crazy about the trim. I would rather have it without.

NauDeeGal 07-10-2011 02:08 AM

The purse is really pretty and so is the trim. The trim takes away from this purse tho. Do you have another project that you could use the trim on? I would leave the trim off of this purse and leave the cute bird and heart.

Donna Mare 07-10-2011 02:16 AM

I like the trim but thicker would be better.. ?

Donna Mare 07-10-2011 02:16 AM

lucniak 07-10-2011 02:41 AM

it would be different very pretty

jitkaau 07-10-2011 03:33 AM

I think it cheapens the look of an otherwise elegant purse.

I wish the pocket placement was my idea but it was actually a pattern I found. The purse itself is the way I always make them just did the pocket different.

OK here is a pic of the purse without the trim. Should have included it from the start. The purse is for my friends sister. I too did not care for the trim with these pockets. We may look for another trim or just leave it but I think my friend wants to add something else to it.....we shall see.
I lucked out on the heart and bird. I got them on clearance at JoAnn's. THe heart was 99c and the bird was $2.97 on sale.

Anne T 07-10-2011 04:22 AM

Loose the trim. Good job, like the colors.:)

Ditto!! Love the purse.

Linda B 07-10-2011 09:32 AM

That pocket material is so pretty -- how about making your own trim using that same fabric?

beatrice 07-10-2011 10:27 AM

I, too, think it would look better without.

caspharm 07-10-2011 10:32 AM

I agree, better without, but love the buttons.

grammysharon 07-10-2011 11:13 AM

The trim doesn't show up very well because of the fabric so unless you add a band of plain fabric and mount the trim on that I would take the trim off. :D

MargeD 07-10-2011 11:45 AM

I think I might leave the top trip off, but that's just my opinion.
