OK, here are 3 blocks of a huge quilt I'm making for my daughter. Do you think the colors look okay and not garish??? I had formally picked a light neutral background for the corners of the snowball but I thought it looked "washed out".

What do you all think????

Thanks in advance for your help!! :-)

Looks great to me.

Sewjoyce,

I like the color combo of your blocks.
They compliment each other.

And me, I think I've got some of your beige background - is it little navy stars all over?

Yes it has little navy stars all over. I had just enough to cut out for the blocks unless I messed up. In which case, I'll be begging you to send me yours

Just holler Joyce, I'd be happy to, although it was only an FQ and I've already cut into it; think I bought it online from the UK so I'm sure I could find it again if you were stuck.

Looks great to me.

Marcia 02-18-2009 07:46 PM

I have to agree with everyone else. I love good ole RW&B.

mpspeedy 02-19-2009 03:39 PM

It looks good. In the long run the darker colors will show soil less and the seam allowances don't bleed through color wise.

quiltwoman 02-19-2009 03:42 PM

I love it too! I'd keep the red. I love all those colors together.

barnbum 02-19-2009 04:46 PM

Looks good to me! Bright--nice contrast.

gcathie 02-19-2009 08:24 PM

I like the way the red in the snowball pulls out the red in the star. It's very pretty!

mommom 02-22-2009 06:51 AM

You made a good choice in the red. Looks great :-) Anxious to see it...be sure to post pictures of your progress.

:D :D :D

I think I have some of that fabric also, so if you need more I could part with a yard or so...........let me know if you need it. I love the quilt and I am sure it will turn out lovely.

kd124 02-22-2009 04:31 PM

Perfect!! :-) :-) I have rwb stars from last years BOM. I too am doing snowballs between. I sewed on white but thankfull didn't trim the corners off yet. I hate the white--like you said washed out. So now my snowballs will be red with blue corners.

Donutone 02-23-2009 10:04 AM

The colors look great. Nice balance of light and dark. This will beautiful when done.

marla 02-23-2009 01:35 PM

I really like it. Try a star with a blue background to see what happens. I think it is turning out very well.
Please send a pic of the completed project.

redquilter 02-27-2009 10:39 AM

I love it. Looks great to me and not at all garish.
