I've always considered myself lucky as I've read your stories of running your needle thru your finger and such. This morning while sewing with my embroidery I thought my finger was faster than my machine...The needle broke off on the nail side of my finger and ouch! Went to the ER to get it out..at least I don't have to worry about my Tetanus for a long while. =) Its sore this evening but luckily didn't stop me..I came back and finished my rolled roses I was working on. I just have to remember to keep my hands out of the way! I just felt so dumb!

Ouch, Ouch, Ouch, Ouch, Ouch

yikes!

My friend now calls her machine Nipper after putting the needle through her finger.
If you pull the needle out at home, remember to pull from the top, the thick side of the needle. My friend's husband did it the other way. |
Ouch! Ow ow ow ow don't do it again!
|
i must be tired tonight. sorry but i just have to say it. your a true quilter when you have to take a picture of your finger before you pull tje needle out. sorry i must be watching to much tv with jeff foxworthy. i wonder how many more things we can say about all of us.

|
Oh my goodness! My dad always said it will feel better when it quits hurting. Hope yours feels better real soon.
|
Feel a bit queasy... *contemplating quitting quilting and taking up something safer like, oh, maybe skydiving* :)
|
Ouch!
|
I would like to suggest that you buy some cheap double pointed bamboo knitting needles to use as a stiletto and save your fingers.
BTW, the picture is really gross. We would have believed you without the picture. A **gross picture** warning in the title would be nice. |
Yup! Done that before!
|
OOOOOOUCH!!! Hope your finger feels better soon!!!!!!
|
I have done that. Twice with a sewing machine and once with a hand needle. I slapped at a fly on the table and the needle was in the way. I didn't see the needle but I felt it. It went half way into my finger with the thread in the eye. Looked funny to see the thread and needle there like in a pin cushion.

~~FAINT~~
I cut about 1/3 of my index finger off in May with a rotary cutter. Luckily a doctor lives next door. While he was here cleaning it, I fainted. I woke up on the kitchen floor with his wife and mil standing over me. lol Oh, and I now have a shield on my ruler |
The only good thing about putting a needle through your finger is that it happens sooo fast it doesn't really hurt....until after. I found the finger ached for quite awhile more from the bruising than the puncture. Mine throbbed for several days and I hope yours heals well. Welcome to the club!

Yep did it too! Four paramedics to the rescue since I was "attached" to the machine. Cute guys. No pain for me since I missed the bone. Yep to er. Yep tetnus shot. Yep red face. Yep kept sewing. Happened 6 years ago and luckily no repeat performances! Yes I feel the pain of embarrassment!

Ouch

Yikes! I did a really dumb move years ago with a #7 steel crochet hook. Tried to put on one of those rubber sleeves to make it easiet to grip and pushed it against my thumb with a wad of paper towels under it. You guessed it, went right through the towels and all the way through my thumb. Had to go have them cut it off to get it out. Felt really stupid sitting in the ER with a crochet hook sticking out of my thumb. Too bad it wasn't Halloween. I'm glad you weren't hurt too bad.

my oldest GD would say owi owi owi
|
I did that trying to patch husbands jeans.Needless to say its a good excuse not to patch anymore.Just quilt baby!
|
OMG. OUCH!! I haven't had that happen yet (TG)but my sister has done that a couple of times or more.
|
Was that picture before or after you passed out...this is what people would be saying to me as I am a fainter and that would of put me out. Man, my imagination is probably worse than what it was but it had to be a horrible experience. I scuffed my fingernail sewing once and that sent a shiver up my spine. Hope it gets better soon.
|
Ouch. That makes my finger hurt. Feel better soon. :)
