Never Laugh at Live Dragons, Bilbo...

3 Attachment(s)
This little (54X39ish) quilt started out as a whim. I asked my son to draw me a largish dragon that I could then put into a quilt. The drawing (on butcher paper) was folded up and stashed behind my desk for ages. I ran across it while cleaning and, since I was 'between' quilts, I decided to do something with the dragon.
I'm not totally happy with it (hence the title which is a quote from 'The Hobbit"). Creativity stalled out on me several times and I had to give myself a good old fashioned talking to...."Get upstairs and get that Dragon finished" I said.... And then I would find something else I needed to do. sooooo long story short, I did finally finish it and I'm happy that it is done!

That's amazing!

My son loves dragons and if I gave him something that wonderful he would come unglued. It really is fantastic.

Masterful!

That's really quite nice, dragons are very special. Reminds me of one of my favorite bumper stickers- "Never meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!" I think this would be a great idea for a quilt for my awesome grandson.

Lilrain 03-02-2017 10:57 AM

You and your son making an amazing artistic team. Beautiful is an understatement!

zozee 03-02-2017 11:03 AM

Bravo. It's truly magical in those colors. Your quilting is amazing, as is your son's talent.

Beautiful Dragon quilt. You did a great job. I once saw a tshirt with, Never laugh at live dragons for you are crunchy and good with ketchup. But I like the Tolkien line better.

The quilting just really enhances his beautiful quilt

Sleepy Hollow 03-02-2017 04:38 PM

Love it! The detail in your dragon is stunning, especially the way you quilted the wings!

I've been thinking about asking my son if he could draw a simple sleeping baby dragon for me to use in a quilt, he draws much better than I do. It's great when you can have a project where the two of you use different skills and come up with something amazing!

lynnie 03-02-2017 05:22 PM

To start out with, your quilt is awesome. Your son did a great job creating you a pattern and you have totally outdone yourself on the quilting. It is amazing. There is no way I could ever produce such a treasure. Please know you have done a great job and so did your Son. Thanks for sharing with us such a wonderful quilt.

susie reardon 03-04-2017 05:42 AM
