Hubby got this for me today for $10! It's a Singer 404! Needs a good cleaning and an oiling, but isn't she beautiful!!!!

That looks like the German version of the Singer 404. Is it a 404G? If so, it’s not very common in my neck of the woods. It appears to have the knock-outs for a treadle belt application, and the bobbin winder is on top instead of on the side.

Great machine. Either it was really looked after well or nobody used it very much as it seems to be in really good condition. Happy stitching.

CD - The plate on it says "404-" but no G and I also can't find the serial number anywhere
But I cleaned her up and she makes the most beautiful stitches!!!!! She really needs a good oiling and greasing, so hopefully hubby will have time to help me with that tomorrow. She really is in great condition!!!! She has a service sticker from 2001. |
