Here are pictures of an upcoming group of fabrics by Quilting Treasures. It's not like most "pink ribbon" fabric groups... because there is no pink ribbon loop motif in these designs.
So... I'm wondering... was that a good idea or a bad idea? Quilting Treasures' previous groups were by Karen Neuburger, and they always featured the ribbon loops prominently. This one focuses on the ladies. If you were making a quilt... would you lean toward the tradition pink ribbons, or do you like the ladies? |

Here are some coordinates. The dots come in several other colorways, but you'll get the ideaL

And two more coordinates. The heart swirls also come in black-on-white and a color the maker calls dark magenta.
Finally is a small preview picture of the project that goes with this collection. |
Those are fabulous fabrics, would look great in the breast cancer awareness block swap! I love the pink hearts print.
Like the fabrics. When quilting a quilt using them you can always incorporate the pink ribbon design throughout the quilt or just in one area.
I like pink, and I like many of these.
I like the idea of supporting breast cancer research, but I don't want to be reminded every moment that breast cancer exists, and that's what the pink ribbon motif does. So no pink ribbons for me. |
I love Loralie and like all the fabric!
I like the ladies. They don't scream breast cancer to me and some patients like a more subtle approach.
I like the new line of fabrics, good choice.
I like them and I think that you could applique the pink ribbon on to one of the squares or borders if you wanted to
I agree Mamabear. I myself like the pink ribbon symble, but the ladies are really cute!
Hi Favourite Fabrics - I was just wondering, do you use our feedback to inform your buying/stocking decisions? :-)

I like them all, will you be carrying them?

I love buying tickets on quilts for a cause, but I really don't care for the quilts that are made with the pink ribbon loop on it. I especially don't like the ones with the BIG pink ribon right in the center of a quilt. I would rather buy a ticket on something that was made with fabric like the Loralie fabric shown here or maybe something with just a hint of pink. To commemmorate that it is a pink ribbon quilt, state it on the label. I think that's enough.
OK, looks like I'm in the minority but I don't care for the 'ladies'. I do like some of the coordinates however. As a survivor and going through it with my mom, I don't care for lots of pink ribbons but I personally love pink! The one I made for an auction last June had browns, greens, pinks and neutrals because I wasn't sure who was going to want to buy it. I didn't want it to scream "BREAST CANCER". Course it was at a muscle car club event too. My DH actually bid on it as a surprise for me but the lady that purchased it said "it doesn't matter how high you bid, it's going home with me". She was a friend so I was happy. Thank you for posting all these wonderful fabrics in advance. I always get there when they are all gone.

I like the ladies and the hearts also. I will be facing chemo some day in the future, and hope I can keep my sense of humor during it all. I am living with an incurable form of leukemia, so am very sensitive to cancer patients. I just think the gals are so cute they would make me smile. Guess you would have to know the person, hard for somebody else to know what would work. If any doubts....stay subtle.
I am doing blocks for the Breast Cancer swap and have the same ladies on the material I am using but they are in a different design. I agree with most here. I thought they would be a change from the ribbon material. I love these new fabrics!
I would prefer these over the less subtle ribbon prints :D:D:D
Wow would love to have all these fabrics sigh
I vote for Loralie. The ladies make me feel happy & the darker pink is a hit in my book. Let us know when it's out.

I still get excited when I see all the new fabrics that the makers are coming out with, and when I run across a particularly wonderful one, the feeling bubbles up that I've just got to share it. And it seems that quite a few members here enjoy seeing the previews. It's rather like window shopping; you can look, and it's fun and doesn't cost anything. Sometimes the designers come up with colors and patterns that I just don't understand. Maybe it's a generational thing. So I post the pictures, in the hope that maybe someone will be able to educate me as to what it is that makes the collection "work". Other times, there's a fabric that is interesting but I have absolutely no idea of what it could be used for. And the creative people here are always able to come up with a long list of ways to use it. Basically I post whatever catches my eye for some reason, whether or not I think it is something that I'd actually buy. And there are SO MANY to choose from! This is probably the busiest time of year, for new introductions, as the holiday lines are being shown now. Within the last month, there have been well over 2000 new fabrics introduced. It's wonderful, but it's enough to make your eyes water! |

I love the way the quilt turned out! Awesome!
I like this pattern the best. I am a breast cancer survivor and like so many other ladies do not like to be reminded every time with the traditional pink loop. This is very pretty fabric
As a breast cancer survivor, I can say that I'm 'pink ribboned out'. I love the ladies.
Love this fabric, I make small pillows for under the arms of patients with mastectomies, and harnesses for drains--would definitely buy this material.
I like the ladies. Great fabric and colors.

I LOVE THE FABRIC IT IS SO HAPPY
I prefer the ladies...it keeps the subject lighthearted and upbeat which the ladies that are struggling need. I've made friends wonderful colorful pillowcases to rest their weary heads as they go through their chemo therapy and make a bottle of linen water to spray the cases and bedding with a relaxing aroma such as lavender or whatever scent you choose. It makes a nice gift to the patient.
Love this fabric...maybe put the pink ribbon on label for cancer patient
cute
I prefer the "Ladies".

I love Loralie designs and these are great fabrics! I would certainly use them.

I think, while the ribbon is symbolic, most women don't want to be constantly reminded of breast cancer. I'm a 9 year survivor, and I like pink in small amounts, with other colors. My friend and I are holding a "Walk for the Cure" in April here in our small town. My Quilting Group worked together to make a quilt for us to raffle, but we chose a kit from Connecting Threads called Aqua Terra, in southwest colors...no pink involved. We think people are more likely to buy raffle tickets for something they might want to use in there home...pink not so much. Since we want to raise money for Susan G. Komen foundation, selling tickets is our priorty. Quilt is at the Long Armer's, I'll post it when I get it back.
