New find

Hello all,
I just had to post my latest find. I found these in the stationery dept at Walmart. They are perfect for holding binding on while sewing it onto the quilt. The cost is great too. These are 20 per box for about $2.00 and they also have a size bigger but they have 12 per box for about $3.00. I like the smaller size and they work great!

Cool -- I will have to look for them the next time we are WalMart.

QUILTNMO 08-17-2013 12:03 PM

neat will have to look for them !!!!!

craftynell 08-17-2013 12:30 PM

I have used them for a long time.

Tartan 08-17-2013 01:40 PM

I love those mini pins, they are so cute. I like to use them to hold tiny quilts up for hanging too.

gabeway 08-17-2013 01:46 PM

Nice info to have.

annpryor 08-17-2013 06:31 PM

In my younger days we called them clothespins.

Lilrain 08-17-2013 07:13 PM

How fun is that??

DOTTYMO 08-18-2013 01:47 AM

For some of my tiny quilts to hold together I use those tiny mini pegs that usually come out at Christmas to hang Christmas cards up on fancy string.

susanwilley 08-18-2013 03:31 AM

In my younger days too ann, I still call them clothespins.

quiltinglady-1 08-18-2013 04:37 AM

I have a few of the smaller ones and love to use them. I'll have to check out the larger ones. Guess if I need a real large one, I can just go to the laundry room and get one out of the bag. lol

How I remember. Hanging clothes out to dry, having them freeze in the winter, get blown in the spring, sun-drenched in the summer and snappy in fall. They smelled so wonderful too. Now our zoning prohibits hanging clothes out on lines. Back then, we had no choice. Oh, we are old!!!!

mighty 08-18-2013 06:01 AM

Very cool!

christi54 08-18-2013 08:04 AM

I have used them for the last year, just love them. But I found mine at the dollar store, got 50 of them for $1.00. Very cost effective. Maybe your dollar store carries them also, look in the craft isle that's where I found mine. good luck

quiltingloulou 08-18-2013 08:06 AM

They are clothes pegs to us in the UK but they are handy for other uses.

barny 08-18-2013 08:49 AM

Fivepaws, we used them as clothes pins too. I use new ones to close bags in the kitchen, potato chips etc. But we hung clothes out in all times except rain.lol. We took in laundry to make a quarter. Worked like crazy. But it didn't kill us.

Mine too! I still use them....nothing better than line dried sheets!

wantanaquilt 08-18-2013 09:19 AM

They r clothes pins still. Should fine bags of them in landry dept. were the clothes baskets, landry hampers etc. r and should be a lot cheaper for buying them by the bags, but being they r mini may not be in that dept. I use to c them in crafts at Walmarts, haven't paid much attention lately.

yel 08-18-2013 02:10 PM

i like those little metal hair clips that have been around for years to hold the binding .....the teardrop shaped ones that bend ...

piepatch 08-19-2013 03:41 AM

I am just curious to know why they are kept in the stationary department?

nunnyJo 08-19-2013 03:56 AM

great find//

mjhaess 08-19-2013 04:03 AM

Good idea...I have lots of those..

WisWis 08-19-2013 04:49 AM

Love the idea-we have used them for hanging out washing in Scotland for years.

Lyncat 08-19-2013 04:58 AM

They are smaller than standard clothespins, meant for crafting or whatever. That's why they are in that department. They are cute! We use them in my special Ed classroom for different centers to help with fine motor skills.

Because a lot of the "younger group" who work in offices don't know what clothes pins are......I saw these at michael's with the sticky back glitz trim on them and they were called " memo clips"...... So ladies who know the source of theses little darlings.........go for it.... Half for the laundry room and half for the sewing room!!!

tessagin 08-19-2013 05:12 AM

Heading over to WM today. Will have to check it out! TY

GailG 08-19-2013 05:20 AM

I still use regular clothespins to place things on hangers, etc. WE also use them for closing chip bags, etc. I used them for grouping flash cards, etc. in the classroom. I'll have to scout around the the mini ones.

karenpatrick 08-19-2013 06:45 AM

Those are great, but it's given me an idea. Why couldn't we use regular clothes pins? I have dozens of those for hanging my laundry outside. They are FREE!

Guess I should have read the rest of the posts first!!

Mariposa 08-19-2013 06:50 AM

These are great! I will check out the stationary dept. next time I'm at WM~

Off the clothes line to the quilting room , I use clothes pins for so many things they are a great invention from years gone by.

milikaa1 08-19-2013 08:25 AM

I think I am going to be buying some of these :), I use the hair clips right now but I like this idea better, thanks for sharing!

MargeD 08-19-2013 09:23 AM

Great idea and frugal. Like annpryor says, we used to call them clothespins. I'm old enough to remember hanging clothes out on a clothes line using clothespins that were held in a bag that resembled a cute dress. My Mom often hung the sheets out in winter, bringing them back in and hanging them by clotheslines in a warm room in the house, they always smelled so wonderful.

Diana Lea 08-19-2013 12:16 PM

I am sorry but when did someone change the name. What esle would you call them?

love 2 sew 08-19-2013 12:23 PM

Line dried sheets are great, but not towels. Course I guess they're good for exfoliating! Ha

cuppi duke 08-19-2013 12:40 PM

Very cool. Thanks for the tip.

husker67 08-19-2013 01:28 PM

I'm glad that others remember them as 'clothes pins'. LOL

Clever idea.

mom-6 08-19-2013 04:38 PM

They can be used for a fun game with a large gathering. The object of the game is to attach one to someone's clothing without them noticing.

I was beginning to wonder if I was the oldest one reading this post! Was expecting to see a new invention of some sort lol
