Kassaundra - I barely had enough to fussy cut those diamonds. If you look closely at the diamonds in the second round you'll see I had to use two different flowers there luckily I found more at the quilt show last weekend and I bought two more yards. Need to decide on fabric for my last round on this rosette -I've gone from dark to light and now I'm not sure if I have the colors I need in lighter shades. I may take a break to ponder it and finish up the BOOM blocks.

bearisgray 03-04-2015 01:37 PM

It is beautiful!

QUILTNMO 03-04-2015 01:50 PM

great block and nice colors!!!

Kassaundra 03-04-2015 02:00 PM

I almost made a fussy cut hexie block out of your fabric for the boom, but knew if anything went wrong I would have a hard time making anything out of what was left, then I thought about that one I made it into and loved that idea so much I just went w/ it.

lynnie 03-04-2015 02:04 PM

Geri - it's EPP and I've been making my own templates from cardstock as I decided to make mine a smaller proportion than shown in the book. I am used to doing 1 inch hexies so I couldn't imagine doing a pieced hexie that is 6 inches across. I have used freezer paper in the past and then thread basted; this time I'm glue basting with the Fons and Porters glue stick. The glue basting speeds things up a lot. Katja has a web page for this quilt along with directions for one rosette released each month. You could follow along from there but you would miss out on the interaction with the group on facebook.

Very stunning. I have never seen EPP that large. Very stunning pattern. Not one who is on Facebook so I hope you will occasionally post a photo to keep a few of us up to date.

Ok.......I too use the glue stick to baste....and have cut hexies from cardstock, old greeting cards, etc using my GO and fiskar punch, and I DO have her book.....PaperPieces.com offers a monthly ( I think) kit of this quilt along.....I also just got a book that offers larger designs(machine sewn) with templates.......tempting.....so is peeking at the FB group.......

March and January from the book The new Hexigons and the Millefiori quilt along from Katja's web. I am foundation piecing mine....working on too many UFO (15) - Sharon Schamber has a class now on foundation piecing with Craftsy, if anyone is interested.

Joanie2 03-06-2015 09:05 AM

I saws the first round and thought Wow! This is so beautiful! and then I scrolled to the next step...This is going to be one fantastic and stunning quilt! I especially love the center! Can't wait to see what's next!

craftyone27 03-06-2015 09:57 AM

d rickman - are you EPP or foundation paper piecing - everyone I've seen doing this quilt along is doing EPP, some by hand and some by machine. I'm making my templates from cardstock as Katja suggested in her book.

Caswews 03-06-2015 07:05 PM

Apologies - There were 3 more hexi's when the previous pic was taken, chose the wrong pic, this is the correct one with the last three hexi's added. Thanks for the nice comments! We all wonder what it will look like when it is completed - I believe there were 13 blocks in all, each block is approx. 27", so will be a fair size quilt when all put together.

PS Stitcher 03-07-2015 09:20 AM

That's a gorgeous block!! Nice job!!

Sadheart 03-07-2015 09:56 AM

They are all gorgeous. Hope to see them as they progress. Love the colors, they almost jump off the page. ;-)
