New machine - new quilt
2 Attachment(s)
I have always hand quilted but I am getting to an age when I know I have too much fabric and too many ideas to get it all done that way. I took the plunge and bought a Brother 1500S. My grandson's 4th birthday is coming up, it's cold in Maine and his baby quilt did not fit his new big boy bed. My daughter washes things constantly and I couldn't let her do that to another hand quilted one. No time for practice - let's just see what happens right out of the box. I had the top ready and three days later - a new quilt for Malcolm! I think he likes it! Now it's time to practice and try more than straight lines.
The second shot is baby Malcolm with his baby quilt. |
You have a wonderful way with color! Very nice kids and quilts. Martie in CA

How pretty and the kids seem to really love it too.

That's great! It's amazing how much pizazz is added by setting it on point!

Lovely quilts. Your pictures show how pleased Malcolm is with the quilts that Grandma made for him.

congrats on your new machine and your wonderful, colorful quilt... oh yeah, and your adorable grandson. I just became a first time grandma about six months ago and love the feeling. I love your quilt shop in Windham and have found some great fabric there.
|
Both are fun quilts for Malcolm. What a lucky lil tike! Great design for a scrappy.
|
Adorable grandson & you can tell he loves his quilt. Great job !!
|
Nice quilt, darling boys and you will continue to love that Brother.....I have one that has become my favorite "go to" machine. I also have a Janome 6600 so that I can do non-straight stitches, but the Brother is a workhorse and so easy to use. I hope you love yours as much as I love mine.......I bought mine in 2000 and have only had to have it cleaned once. I usually remove the bottom and clean it myself.....easy and definitely cheaper.....LOL!

Adorable kids and adorable quilts.

How can anything that brings that joyous a response have any downsides? It made my day better just to see the happiness and love. My effort is going to keep the smile on my face all day. Thanks.
And another thing. When did straight line quilting become anathema? Did I miss the memo? I've seen some really nifty straight line quilting ideas combined singly and/or separately with interesting fabric/pattern choices. And, let it be whispered in the dark, my thoughts about quilts is that they need to be puffy as well as conform around and over the body. Cardboard quilts do not do it for me. Mea culpa. Pat |
Great quilts and VERY cute kids!!!
|
Love the quilts and the grandson is adorable. Good job and how do you like the Brother 1500S?????
|
Love your cutie..............and your quilts. Isn't wonderful when they love what Grandma made? Great job on your first machine quilted quilt. I, too, have too many projects to do them by hand. Admire those who do, but it is not for me.
