I had fun piecing this one. The new Wings Block designed by Rhonda. A very easy to piece quilt block. It looks complicated but really isn't. Hope you like it! :D :D

Very pretty. My favorite color!!

sewjoyce 08-18-2009 02:39 PM

That's pretty!!

SharonC 08-18-2009 02:44 PM

What a pretty quilt. It really does look complicated :). Great job.

Iluv2quilt 08-18-2009 03:03 PM

Thank you all so much! It really isn't complicated at all. I think that cutting a consistent angle is the most important part. And that's pretty easy to do with a ruler.

Lacelady 08-18-2009 03:14 PM

That's really neat, I suppose she is on the way to another book?

katier825 08-18-2009 03:22 PM

that's really pretty!

tlrnhi 08-18-2009 03:37 PM

Suzi you did realllll good!!!!! It looks fantastic! I haven't made this block so you are the first one to actually make it! I love your colors and fabric choice!

As far as the block it is one I created a long time ago and it probably will be coming out some time depending on several things. We will have to wait and see. It's just in the thinking stage. I asked Suzi to try out the block so I could work out some bugs and get a second opinion. I think it is really easy to do but I wanted a differant perspective.

Martina 08-18-2009 03:56 PM

Wow....sure doesn't look easy....very nice job

reneebobby 08-19-2009 02:35 AM

Wow I really like that it looks like a ton of curves but I do know better now.

Arleners 08-19-2009 02:40 AM

I'd love to be able to make this! How beautiful. I'm into butterflies and I can just see them flitting around a new quilt.

It would be fun to design one to look like butterflies wouldn't it? I think it's possible with this block.

shaverg 08-19-2009 07:25 AM

Beautiful, where do we get the pattern.

Quilt4u 08-19-2009 07:27 AM

Wow!!!! I would love to do that one.

Ducky 08-19-2009 07:28 AM

Great looking block!

Rhonda 08-19-2009 08:36 AM

Sorry folks this is in the thinking stage and I debated on letting Suzi show it yet as the book isn't even in writing form but I asked her to make one to work out some problems I was having and I hated to not let her show her great work!! Plus I love seeing what she has done with it!!
I will have this available but not for awhile yet. So you can watch for it when it is done! So glad you like the design!! I have a lot of original quilt blocks with this "Wings Block" which will be available when I get it all done!
Wish I could share it all now but it isn't ready yet! Sorry!

Elsie 08-19-2009 09:10 AM

Rhonda 08-19-2009 07:18 PM

Thanks kd124 I appreciate the compliment! I really like this one too. I have been trying to get the message across that my methods make the intricate looking quilt blocks really easy to do. That is one of the reasons I wanted Suzy to try this "Wings Block" because it does look really complicated but it isn't when you know the tricks just like the Boston Block and the Star Point Block. If you have seen the Star Point Block then you will have an idea of how easy this one can be. It has a couple more steps but it is the same method of cutting an angle and sewing the fabric together.
I wanted to follow up the Star Point Block with this block because they are related in how they are made. So if you understand the Star Point Block you will not have any problem with the Wings Block.
The design possibilities with these shortcut methods are infinite!! They will go as far as your imagination can take you!!
Ok my lecture is over now!! Thanks for listening!!!LOL LOL LOL

And thanks Suzi for helping me!!! Sorry I stole your thunder!!(hijacked it)

I look forward to your next project!!

sharon b 08-19-2009 07:20 PM

WOW Great block  Both of you done good
Sharon

Thanks everyone and your more than welcome Rhonda, I had fun making the block.

Rhonda's right, if you understand the Star Points Block then you will easily be able to make this one. Or you could start out on this one, then move to the star points block, either way it works. All in all it's fun to choose colors and play with the blocks to create designs. The designs are infinite as far as I can see.

Thank you! Rhonda is still in the thinking stages of this block, this was a trial run.

swimmom 08-20-2009 01:22 PM

Cool - I like the way it moves

Rhonda 08-20-2009 01:39 PM

The thing that fascinates me about the Star Point Block and the Wings block is they give the illlusion of curves when in fact there are no curves!
