Not as dumb as my question: What do you do with the dryer sheets?? I love your quilt. I want to make a scrappy or string quilt, but don't understand what you do with the dryer sheets. (Bear with me, please!)
Lots of folks use the dryer sheets in their dryer- I use mine several times. Take them out when they are all limp, wilty and not so stiff. Then iron them lightly and use then as the foundation to sew your scrappy pieces on. Some people who have allergies say they can not have these in their quilts so take my advice accordingly. I would rather use a very thin piece of fabric like a cotton or something you can see through as my foundation or even a piece of lightweight muslin. When I was just teaching myself, I sewed my scraps together without any foundation. Seemed to work ok but I did not know about bias etc. I think the foundation keeps the fabric from stretching out of shape if you are using scrappy bias pieces. Hope that helps. After you sew the scraps onto the foundation, Then trim up to shape and size you want, remembering to allow a quarter inch seam allowance on all sides.

Beautiful! I love string quilts and love to study how the colors play off of each other. I recently heard of using used dryer sheets as a foundation. What a great idea! Really nice quilting too!
