Hi to all. I made this table runner this week and I really like it and wanted to put it on my table. BUT my kids and husband don't like the fabric and they also don't think it looks enough like christmas. I like it alot but I don't want them getting it dirty if I am not going to keep it. So what to do?
Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, and Happy anything else I forgot, to all. :-D

oh, it is red, white and black.

On my table.

I agree it is not really Christmasy, but it is absolutly beautifful The pic looks like it is navy, whit and red. Is it? I would use it all year round.

happymrs 12-22-2010 08:20 AM

Very pretty! Look at it this way, if it's not xmas looking enough for them, save it for after the holidays, then use it! Very nice fabric, & you did a great job on it. Some people just aren't into black & red for xmas...

Candace 12-22-2010 08:34 AM

Personally I don't see Christmas at all in it. But, I think I have some of those fabrics and they're my favorite color combo. It turned out nice.

thequiltmama 12-22-2010 08:34 AM

Nope it is red, white and black.

Tippy 12-22-2010 09:38 AM

I love it also!!

Lynneander 12-22-2010 09:55 AM

It is lovely. My thought, and only my own, is that if you like it, do it! This year my husband bought me a small pink Christmas tree with bright pink ornaments. It works for us! Enjoy your holiday!

The Creative Seamstress 12-22-2010 10:04 AM

Quilting is an art, and often art is an abstraction. While the runner doesn't scream XMAS in the traditional sense, I can still feel it's influences, particularly in the fabric used that contains the red flowers that mimic Poinsettias, which I like in this particular piece because they sort of look like they are from a kalidoscope. It's brilliance comes from the runner's versatility - by which not only does it serve as a lovely centerpiece for XMAS, but also all year round. While I realize everyone doesn't share in similar appreciation when it comes to art and creativity, the bottomline is that it is your work and you should be able to feel comfortable both keeping and displaying it - even if it only serves your fancy. Be confident and be a little selfish... if it makes you happy you shouldn't be rid of it. I personally love it, and if I'd been by your house for a garage sale, I'd have snapped it up!

When it comes to Husbands' and Childrens' tastes regarding the arts and their own creative expression... remember, when the husband's performing a live interactive statue for all to enjoy by looking like Al Bundy on the couch with a remote in hand, and his hand down his pants and when the newest poster of the Jonas Brothers or Hannah Montana is gracing a child's wall for years in worship as their own proudly owned work of art, we don't get rid of their things they like (i.e. TV, Remote, Posters, Etc), or them ;)

Happy Holidays!

Explosive blessings, abundance and inspiration to you all!

In any Scandinavian country it would be EXACTLY Christmas colors. Just need some hearts.

newquilter10 12-22-2010 12:21 PM

Very pretty, I would use it and they would have to get used to it. I love it.

thequiltmama 12-22-2010 12:23 PM

Oh, I always appreciate others opinions. i understand it isn't the norm but I do love it and may use it....but now I am worried they might wreck it. I have messy kids. ugh.

I agree, it is beautiful, keep it and enjoy it. I actually like not having everything NOT truly Christmas design.

karenfae 12-22-2010 12:37 PM

I think it is a very pretty table topper - it might not be with the normal Christmas colors but it is nice to be different isn't it
