New York....here they come !

1 Attachment(s)
I have been quite quiet on the board recently...life has been hectic and I have done far less sewing than planned....but my daughter is in a show choir here in the UK and they have been asked as guests to come to New York in March 2013 and perform.....they are all so exciting and trying really hard to fund the trip....there is about 30 of them ages between 13 and 30.
About six weeks ago my daughter Caroline asked if I would make a vintage style double quilt to be sold at an auction night to help raise funds....so amongst the madness I said yes.....it involved quite a few late nights and I finished it just in time for tonights auction....nothing fancy but I have had such fun making it......has really got me back into quilting, can't wait to start my next project and even though life is still hectic I feel so much happier....I have so enjoyed it........and the best part was there were quite a few bids and it sold for $170......I am totally amazed.....the whole evening was a great success and raised lots of money .........one step closer to New York

Very vintage. Really like it and glad it raised money for the trip. I too have not been on this board for months because my life too has been hectic. Sure have missed the wonderful eye candy.

Little RoO 11-25-2012 03:01 AM

Thank you for all your comments.....I have said it numerous times, this board is an amazing place not just for inspiration but for the wonderful support everyone gives. This year turned out to be a really hectic one, not all bad but just crazy, can't see next year being much quieter but at least I can escape with my quilting, and I am determined to allot myself some 'me time' each week next year just for quilting.
I was delighted the quilt fetched that much. It was made from a moda jelly roll that I had had for some time and a couple of yards of fabric that I found that went quite well. The woman who bought it had come to the auction especially to bid on the quilt....it made me feel very special that someone wanted it that much......I hope she really enjoys it.
As for my daughter, she cannot wait....she is like an excited puppy ( even though she is 23) as is the rest of the group. Two weeks ago they performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London at a children's charity event and were excellent......We are very proud of her.....
