Next quilt on the frame
3 Attachment(s)
I got the next quilt on the frame and started the quilting. Not much so far since I'm still thinking about what to do in the white scalloped areas and wasted a lot of time just looking at it. I have a stencil that I really like but it's too big, I checked online and it doesn't come in a smaller size. I pasted a picture of it into MS Paint and reduced it so that it fits into the space but I'm still not sure. I will be trimming off the outer white of the border print so that the edges end in the red with the same red fabric used for the binding.
I'll just continue to stitch down all around it while I think about it. The quilt is my own design using pretty standard blocks, the center is from the Baltimore Album add-on for EQ. The fabric is Cottage Romance. |
What a beautiful quilt. Good luck with the quilting.

Oh, my - that is just stunning. You do beautiful work. Thank you for sharing and Merry Christmas!
|
lol... did you notice that the outer white piece of two of the baskets (top right and bottom left) are different than all of the other white fabrics in the background? I ran out and had to use 4 pieces of another rose fabric.

Eve after you point it out, I can't tell that it's different fabric, so great job matching! Your quilt is beautiful. What kind of batting do you use? Im partial to warm and natural but your quilting looks more noticeable than mine, with a little fluff, which I like, so thinking about trying a different loft. Please post pics of what you decide for the scallops, would love to see it.
|
It's Warm & Natural batting. I guess it looks more pronounced in the picture from an angle. I too am thinking that I want more loft normally. I've read on a longarm site that many use two layers, a thin layer like W&N or wool and another of Hobbs 80/20. I think it would give it a flatness on the bottom layer and some loft on the top for the quilting definition.
The next quilt to get on the frame is the one in my avatar picture and I will try that. |
Two layers o batting, wow, that would roll very thick on the frame. I will be interested to hear how it is to work with two layers.
|
Very nice quilt ,love it.
