I enjoyed making little nine patches in early morning! Hope he likes it?

that is such a nice quilt. love how you did the border!

osewme 02-01-2020 07:08 AM

No doubt he will love that quilt. It's so pretty!

MaryLeeR 02-01-2020 07:52 AM

I measured the size of my large nine patch which was 9 1/2”. Then I put a block on. Repeat the process. There are two different types of large nine patches. If interested I’ll send you my pattern which I made up not bought.

nativetexan 02-01-2020 01:17 PM

I got it figured out, but I love to see quilts made and then remember how it looked when i want to make one. Right now I'm busy finishing one i started in 2014 and am mulling over doing one again with 2 1/2 inch squares.

I will say my Father was from Wisconsin. Withee and De Soto.

LAF2019 02-01-2020 01:33 PM

Unique and very pretty. Your border was very creative, so I agree with the others when I say I love it.

audsgirl 02-01-2020 06:25 PM

This is just delightful! I know that if your brother doesn't like it, there would be a lot of takers on this board.

It’s a beautiful quilt and the border is the “icing on the cake”.

Love the border. Very nice quilting pattern. The circular design is nice choice.

Blueridge Beverly. Betty my Quilter, LA, chose the pattern of quilting. I don’t have a long arm.

MaryLeeR 02-01-2020 09:36 PM

Nativetexan This quilt is made from strips 1 1/2” sew together in threes. The little squares measure 1”. The little nine patches are 3 1/2” unfinished. I so enjoy all the comments. Great group of ladies and gentlemen! The large nine patches are 9 1/2” unfinished. Using strips made it easy!

loisf 02-02-2020 12:28 AM

You've made an absolutely stunning quilt. I love it. Your color/fabric selections were perfect. I have tons of 1.5" strips that I cut for log cabins, but I may steal them for this pattern. Thank you for posting.

MaryLeeR 02-02-2020 12:34 AM

Loisf good luck on your journey making it. It’s best to use 20” strips so they don’t bow if too long. I keep a stash when I want to do “mindless” sewing. It does take time but easy to put down and pick up. I use mostly civil war fabrics with some traditional fabrics thrown in.

I agree! I think that design element really makes the quilt shine.

I would also love the pattern. I have tons of 2.5 inch squares just waiting for the right pattern, and this is it!

I love how the lowly 9P creates a spectacular quilt! The border detail makes it extraordinary.

I just love all the colors in this quilt and I would love to have a copy of your pattern if you would like to share.

What a heart warming quilt, your brother is sure to love it.

sewingsuz 02-02-2020 11:01 AM

Quilt is big and what a beauty! I love It. I like how all the plain blocks are a different light tan or cream.

BonnieJP 02-02-2020 11:17 AM

Very pretty quilt. How could he not love it!

juliasb 02-02-2020 12:03 PM

I love it! This is another of my favorites when it comes to scrappy quilts. I love that the center of each joined 9 patch is also scrappy. The quilting is great! Thank you for sharing.
