A while ago (we won't mention how long) I posted that I needed help with the quilting of this quilt I pieced. I tried to quilt it myself by hand and machine, but my lack of experience was ruining it. So I hired out a local quilter named Rosie and she did exactly what I was looking for.
This quilt was created from a photo of my daughters favorite place. I had a photo that I dragged around everywhere trying to match the fabric and this is what I came up with.
Rosie added the trees, water plants and water lillies. She used metallic thread in the water and gave the sky some clouds. We are all pleased with how it came out....especially Sara. Rosie suggested that I enter it in one of the local quilt shows this summer. I think I just might.
Enjoy.

Stunning!! What a treasure you've made. If you enter it in the show (which you should) you should put the pic framed in a nice frame on display with it!! It really is spectacular!!

Bevanger 03-31-2009 07:56 AM

How on earth did I miss this post? Oh Kelly that is gorgeous..... What are you working on now?

RedGarnet222 03-31-2009 08:32 AM

I love your picture quilt! I would call it, "Red sky in the night". After that old saying , "Red sky in the morning sailor's warning, Red Sky at night, sailor's delight". But, it isn't my quilt, so I will butt out. LoL!

I hope you do enter it. It deserves recognition by the local guild. All your lovely work is beautiful.

reneebobby 03-31-2009 09:21 AM

Well, I'll be that turned out super nice and I agree you must enter in a quilt show.

Debbie1 03-31-2009 03:28 PM

That's a beautiful quilt. Plus it holds meaning since it was from a picture! Great job!

Kelly 08-15-2009 04:00 PM

Just thougth I would keep you updated on the quilt.
I did get up the courage to enter it into a local quilt show after debating for a while. I didn't do half bad. I got a 3rd place Peoples Choice on the first day and a 2nd place Peoples Choice on day two.
That has given me a boost to take on more quilting challenges.....wonder what I will do next.....
