great idea and lucky you that you have a husband that can do that
That's brilliant! I was covered in threads last night and had to stop many times to clear the deck! Be sure to keep sending any other ideas you use!
You is one smart chick!! And lucky to have such a talented, helpful hubby. May I borrow him? ;o)
Very innovative!! Did you do the woodwork? That is a setup worthy of envy!!! Can't wait to see complete studio.
great idea.

Love the idea. What kind of wood did your DH use for the cabinet top? We are going to work on my sewing loft this winter so I'm gathering ideas. I hope I'm able to incorporate your idea into the sewing space.

Neat job.

This will be a definite for when my ship comes in, but failing that eventuality I've just taped a fine clear plastic bag to the edge of my sewing table.
Great idea! Neat machines too!
appears you and your DH make a GREAT TEAM :) nice job
Great idea!!!
I made a pin cushion with a bag attached-the cushion is weighted so it sits on the side of the table and does not fall off-when finished, turn the bag inside out and empty-twofold purpose! Love the countertop idea-when I get my sewing room (hopefully soon), I am going to request something similar-GREAT IDEA!!!
Great idea! Talented husband.
nice idea
Your hubby is a keeper!!
I have kept a small box or can by the machine for throwing threads in. In the area we refurbish sewing machines my husband used a eye screw and attached a small garbage can to the side of the desk I sew at just below the desk top. It is really nice- cheap and so easy to do- and just enough out of reach that I don't loose pins, fabric, thread snips etc into it
That is great!!
Would you mind taking a couple pictures of the underneath so we can see how the bag is connected. I just can't quite picture it.Just a scatter brain today.I think he did a fabulous job of making your table top.I love the wavy edge.and it looks so nice.I'm sure your going to really enjoy your sewing room. Call me when it's done so I can come and play too.lol. Mary

Take all your waste thread/strings and put them in a mesh bag in the yard in the spring. All the birds nest in your area will be decorated with colorful quilt string. :)
Wow!!
That is such a wonderful idea, thanks for sharing.

Why holes in the counter? Because I hate threads all over the floor. I've had to deal with that forever. And this will take care of that. Where the holes are cut, there will be those plastic shopping bags hung so that while sewing all my little snippets will go down the hole into the bag. When done I can just remove the bag and throw it into the trash! Yeah!!!! I know cabinets can't be built like this in the stores because they have no idea where you would be sitting your machines and what size they are. But when you have your DH doing the work, you can do it like this.lol This is just one of several ideas I plan to be putting in this room to make my life easier.lol

Nice idea, very ergonomic, and I love the scalloped edges on the counter! Lucky you to have such a talented husband - my husband to be (come July 2, YAY ME) can barely change a lightbulb! The running joke is that "it's so easy, even Steve can handle it!"
What a great idea... and a talented husband!!!!

Fantastic! Can't wait to see the finished room!

habits are hard to break....I keep my machines on the very edge of my counter top and a trash can at arms reach every where for scrape pieces of fabrics that are too small to keep,,,but I'm also like Ellener Burns....I catch myself throwing stuff over my shoulder too...keeps me laughing all day....My husband still doesn t get that part !!! he just keeps buying trash cans for me and everytime he walks thru my shop he sweeps the floor for me...and I say" thank you honey"....I love it !!!!!

Lol how funny! Yes, I often say I am pretending to be Elleanor Burns. I get a kick out of her show. And nothing like getting history lessons while sewing.lol
