This is from a pattern called No Diamonds In The Sky. It's all done with HSTs which was perfect for me because diamonds just never go right when I try them.
The fabric is by Judie Rothermel called Indigo, Pewter, and Honey. It's for a man so I chose something that wasn't flowery. |
I knew there was a way to do those without struggling with the diamonds!!
thank you for sharing! Have a joyous holiday! |
Wonderful work. The colours fit perfectly
It continues to amaze me when I see how versatile the HST can be - here is proof, once more!! Beautiful...
Great job!!!
It's beautiful! You did great!! I just love those HST's!
handsome quilt
Wonderful! Love it!
That came out great!
What size did you make the little squares and 1/2 sq triangles? |
The squares/HST squares are 3 1/2" unfinshed size, 3" finished.
Gorgeous!!!
What a great quilt Pam. I wonder if it would look as good on my bed.
Lovely, Pam. Glad to hear from you.
Fantastic. You did a great job.
Love it ! Will have to look for that pattern
Stunning!!! You have done a beautiful job on this :D :D :D
You make it look so easy! Am going to have to find that pattern.
Really nice!!! I am going to tackle a mariner's compass or Star of Bethlehem, or whatever you choose to call it. I think I'll find this pattern, because it sure looks easier than even the strip piecing method for diamonds.
That is beautiful
So manly! He will love it! Merry Christmas
That's a fabulous quilt. Love it.
Beautiful Pam! Every time you are gone for awhile I know you are busy creating another beauty! Very nice!!
Looks Beautiful Pam!!!
Beautiful Pam!!
It was fairly easy to make. I cut all the fabric according to the pattern, stacked by fabric, and went to town sewing the number of each combination required.
I "cheat" a little because I do not trust the HSTs to be exactly the size they're supposed to be. If I need a 3 1/2" square then the squares that I start out with need to be 7/8" larger. Well, I used 5" squares, sewed them both sides of the middle, cut them apart and pressed. I then squared up each HST to 3 1/2". It went together just about perfectly that way. |
:-D :-D :-D That is stunning! I have that fabric collection. To see it made up is very inspiring. Thanks for sharing.

I've been waiting to see it finished too!! It WILL be completely done soon. I have so many tops to be quilted... almost 12 this year and I have 3 or 4 previous year ones that need to be quilted too.
Maybe I'll just save them all up for stock to sell when I retire hopefully in 9 years. |
How pretty. I would not have guessed they weren't diamonds.
OMGosh! That is beautiful! All I could think when I saw it was, wow I could actually do that!! Thanks for sharing!!
