Being able to utilize the border prints this way really maximized the WOW factor on this one. I have never seen anything like this, you should think about entering it in a quilt show. Stunning.

Gorgeous design!

Kitsie 11-05-2011 09:02 AM

It's really wonderful, Jennie! I remember you did do a tute for this pattern one time, too. I wanted to try to make just one block with the border fabric, but have trouble finding any!

All 3 are so unique and gorgeous! What do you think you might like to do next?

hensandhollyhocks 11-05-2011 09:03 AM

Nice use of the fabric patterns!

Hi Kitsie,
What I would like to do next is a Mariner's compass. But, don't tell anyone else, but I'm a scardy cat about all those points!

PS - I don't have a problem finding border prints. I think they just jump out at me, from whatever store I happen to be in.!

northern lass 11-05-2011 10:13 AM

Material Witness 11-05-2011 10:29 AM

You are an amazing quilter to do that without a pattern. Thanks for showing the fabric at the end, I would never have guessed that's what you used. Those fabrics must have sang at that audition!

mim 11-05-2011 10:48 AM

Thanks for sharing the newest addition to your Solitaire family with us. It's stunning! I really like your fabric combos and also that the inner blocks are smaller than those on the outside. Fabulous, my dear.
