North Pacific, scrappy quilt

This quilting has just been completed. The pieced pattern is based on a Janine Holzman design called North Pacific, which appeared in Quilter's Newsletter Magazine, Sept. 2006. The quilting pattern is a variation of the classic Orange Peel.
I am pleased with this quilt and I'm looking forward to binding it. It is 72" square.

Wow, what a spectacular example of color and value. You did an outstanding job picking fabrics from your scraps to make this beautiful quilt. I would be more than pleased with the outcome, I'd be ecstatic! You should consider entering into MQX this spring in either the end to end quilting category or if you have never entered before as emerging entrant. It really is that appealing.

Another stunner Jenn!

A beautiful quilt with beautiful colors. Love the whales & boats along the border.

Thanks everyone. The pictures are somewhat "deceiving" in terms of not showing the huge number of pieces and variety of scraps in the boats and whales alone. Here's a flashback picture of the construction (many moons ago).

What a stunning quilt! The middle part as such is beautiful, but those whales and boats really make it special!

How did you manage to take such a great photo of your quilt? The quilting design can be seen so clearly. The whale and ships along the border are so clever. I like the scrappy look of this pattern but also your color choices. Thanks for sharing.

Mkotch 08-25-2018 03:24 AM

Ditto, ditto, ditto on the boats and whales!! Did you have a pattern for the quilt or just 'wing it"?

Moonglow 08-25-2018 04:42 AM

Beautifully done.

JENNR8R 08-25-2018 04:42 AM

I love your fabric colors together, and the whales/boats make it really unique.

institches33 08-25-2018 04:48 AM

The pattern is lovely, but it's your choice of color that made this a fantastic quilt! Be proud!

Just an accidentally good photo for once. The sun was getting lower so the angle of light was good. I swept a section of the driveway, laid the quilt down, then stood on a chair about 4 feet away.

My goodness....that is absolutely gorgeous:):)!!! Thanks for telling where the pattern came from. It's possible I may have that issue.

Beautiful quilt! I like the illusion of the colors fading in and out. And the inner border with the whales and ships is a really nice touch.
