Hi Everyone. Wanted to share with you my second scrappy. I posted another quilt called "Up North" maybe two weeks ago. Well this is what I made from the majority of left over fabrics, so this is it's little sister. This is another Thimbleberries pattern called "Northern Reflections". I chose not to add the additional wide boarder to it. The colors in the top are a bit washed out from the camera's flash. Also, the backing is a soft green pattern which really doesn't show up too well either. It was long arm quilted by a local lady, Betty Sue. The panto she used was called "leap frog". I plan to give this to an old, dear friend in a month or so. I've really gotten attached to it's scrappy, cozy little self and am tempted to keep it. Thanks for taking the time to look.

I like it alot. I sympathize with wanting to keep it. Some of the toughest quilts for me to part with have been scrappies.

Now that is what I call a snuggle quilt. I can just see you curled up in front of the heater with a good book underneath that gorgeous scrappy.

It's very pretty. It's great to be able to make a second quilt from your original fabrics. A job well done, my friend!

marsharini 03-05-2013 03:31 AM

I like that a lot. The colors and pattern. It may be something to keep in mind for future quilt to make.

quilt-n-girl 03-05-2013 03:55 AM

I love the colors in your quilt, and love the quilting, too. Maybe, you have enough time to make another one for your friend, and you CAN keep this one.

Are those 4 or 6" blocks? How big is the overall quilt? Nice job!

audsgirl 03-05-2013 05:58 PM

It's beautiful! Isn't it fun how the simple 1/2 square triangle can make such fantastic quilts?

The pattern called for 6-7/8" square blocks, that would make a 6-1/2" triangle pieced square. I rounded up to 7", so if my math is correct, that would be a 6-5/8" triangle pieced square. There are 84 triangle pieced blocks. The lattice and boarders were from 2-1/2" strips. My finished quilt was 58-1/2" x 76-1/2". The original pattern also called for 7-1/2" wide boarders with corner stones that would make a 72" x 90" quilt.
