When I saw this quilt hanging in the quilt store, I knew I had to make it for our son who is a fisherman. Several months later - here it is! He loved it!!! So do I!

Terrific quilt! Way to go! It looks like it was fun to construct.

Yes it was! It was my first flannel quilt and it was rather warm quilting it in the summer since I am a lap quilter :D

other than warm how was the flannel for piecing and quilting? i've thought about trying it but haven't talked to anyone who has for pros and cons.

The moda flannel went together great - I am not sure that a more inexpensive flannel would be as nice :) The quilting was nice - nice & soft fabric and the needle went through easily. I used a thin cotton batting so it wouldn't be too heavy.

I made an all flannel 4 by 4 ft small quilt for the dog George. Just a simple large 9 patch. He loves it. Very soft and warm. He actually bites the end and pulls so he can cover himself with it. Very easy to work with tho it is abit stretchy so I have some puckering, but George is not one to critisize. Boy my spelling is off today. Can we get a spellcheck here.

i'm convinced. i think i'm gonna try. when you buy baby flannel it says not for childrens sleepwear, but some of it is so adorable, i make sheet sets and small blankets but i think a pieced quilt is what i'm gonna do.
thanks to both of you

Have fun Kathy! Some of the gals I know do the flannel quilts with the ragged edge blocks (I can't remember the name - senior moment!!!)...
