not afraid of feathers anymore!

it took me a while to brave trying FMQ with feathers. This quilt has long light color strips that I thought would be perfect for practicing feathers. I was nicely surprised how easy it was and I rather enjoyed quilting them and although they are not perfect they are good enough.

They look very good to me, and you are right, this is the perfect quilt for them.
They are lovely feathers. Would you mind sharing your machine model?

They look wonderful to me. I am glad someone else practices on real quilts and not just practice squares. Keep up the good work.

I think they look great! You've inspired me. Maybe I need to try feathers.
You did a fine job with the feathers. Lovely quilt!
Aren't you glad you tried? It looks great! I taught myself how to do them using the Hooked on Feathers book by Sally Terry.

Great job! Be proud of yourself--not simply for conquering your fear and doing a wonderful job on a real quilt, but also for inspiring me (and others) to be brave and try it ourselves.

Looks great

Create Your Own Dream Feathers by Peggy Holt is another great resource for you to look at if you're interested. I struggled with feathers too; finally got somewhat comfortable doing feathers with a central spine, but when I found out Peggy's technique for feathers, it was so much easier and so much fun! Your feathers look great, by the way. Kudos for being brave!

Sweet quilt and perfect for feathers. A nice place to practice.
you did a great job! I've decided that we each need to find the style that works for us--I've taken several feathers classes from different teachers and each has their own style--it looks like you have found the style that works for you! Nice job!
Your feathers turned out great!
Beautiful feathers! How long did it take to to master them?
Nice work on the feathers!! :)
You did a wonderful job.
Fabulous job on your feathers...and they are perfect in that area of your quilt. Nicely done.
Your feathers look perfect in the light color strips! You did it! I really like your quilt and how you alternate the rows of scrappy blocks with the light color strips.
If it is not too much trouble, can you show us a picture of the whole quilt? Keep up the good work with your feathers! |
Wonderful. BrendaK
