Thank you all for your compliments and positive feed back. I knew you'd be nice about it but with all your comments, I'm starting to think it might be okay after all. It's still going to find a home away from my home but now perhaps I can hold my head erect as I hand it off. I thank you for that.

I like the idea of the red thread for the quilting. That would be fun.

You all are the greatest! Thank you!

Sadiemae 08-06-2010 07:37 PM

Hold your head up high and be proud of your quilt.

Jim's Gem 08-06-2010 07:49 PM

I'm sorry that you are disappointed. It is busy but I kinda like it!!

Sheila Elaine 08-06-2010 08:33 PM

Your quilt is beautiful & the red binding will pull out more of the reds, plus quilting will add dimension. Nice work.

purplefiend 08-06-2010 08:36 PM

I knew it was a disappearing 9 patch right away. I've made several and sometimes I get interesting results like yours. I think its a lovely quilt. I make lots of kids charity quilts.

I love it too. I could tell it was a d9 , but I also have quilts ,I don't like when done.

paintbug 08-07-2010 03:51 AM

I really love it, it is very unique!

Tweety2911 08-07-2010 04:48 AM

I love the quilt. Once it is quilted it will be great and you will love it. Has great movement and flow.

ladydi64 08-07-2010 04:51 AM

I would not worry what you hate someone else loves. If you hate it give to someone else. That's what I do. I always have an instant present on hand.

rubinsml 08-07-2010 04:59 AM

I really like it! It's got kinda' a wild abandon to it that appeals to me.

Shirlx 08-07-2010 04:59 AM

I think it is so different that is what makes it unique.

quilt crazee 08-07-2010 05:50 AM

The red binding will make it pop & you will love!

Gomeyer 08-07-2010 05:53 AM

I LOVE it.. and immediately saw the D9P. sue

paintedquilt 08-07-2010 05:55 AM

I like it :!:

pjustice63 08-07-2010 06:59 AM

Sorry you aren't happy with it but maybe you will be when it's quilted. Frankly, I love it and recognized the D9P immediately.

Ritzquilts 08-07-2010 07:02 AM

I Love it a lot...my address is....LOL...

Rebecca VLQ 08-07-2010 07:05 AM

There *is* a lot going on in that one, but it all goes together! :D

Sometimes you can't know until you try, right? I've been learning that this week, by doing single blocks of "whatever" to see what it looks like in the flesh. Yes, it takes longer than doing an assembly line, but way less time than doing a whole darn quilt and deciding that's not it! :D

Minnisewta 08-07-2010 08:18 AM

I knew it was a D9P right away. I like it.

lynnie 08-07-2010 09:03 AM

I LOVE it, the stripes especially, the red is great!!!!

dixiechunk 08-07-2010 09:10 AM

I, too, am sorry you didn't like this quilt when you finished it. That said, I LOVE it and would be more than glad to take it off your hands! First, what's not to like about the red/white/black combination?! Second, why work so hard to make a 9-patch disappear and be unhappy when the 9-patch actually...aah... disappears?! Yes, I did recognize the disappearing 9-patch pattern. Third, as someone else has said, after being nose to nose with a project for awhile you kind of pass out of that honeymoon stage and get less enamored with it. Fourth, we are all a little too hard on ourselves when it comes time to critique our work. Hopefully when time passes and it gets back from the longarmer you will have a new perspective.

Does that happen with anyone else once they start working on a quilt?

I love this quilt and you did a great job. It is very modern and pleasing to the eye.

I like it. And yes it did happen with me. However, it was a queen size quilt for my bed. Maybe that is why I have not finished it yet. It just did not turn out the way I wanted. I will get around to finishing it someday.

brenda 5 08-07-2010 09:26 AM

I love it!!!!

klgreene 08-07-2010 09:42 AM

I think it's fun...today's quilts are not all like grandma's used to be. I love the black/white and red. You'll love it when it's all done!

sltiffee 08-07-2010 09:49 AM

I Love it. You did a wonderful job. All 3 of Grandsons would love it.

marla 08-07-2010 11:41 AM

I love it too! I also like the idea of taking a solid colr for a first border, then attching the other borders. I may do one in loud colors!

I think your quilt looks really nice!

Hindsight 08-07-2010 12:00 PM

I think it's beautiful! Those nine patches sure did disappear. LOL I hope you like it better when you get it back from your quilter. :)

katsewnsew 08-07-2010 12:02 PM

I really like it! Love B/W with RED!!! You did an amazing job! Don't worry, be happy! It's Cool!!!

Aunt Retta 08-07-2010 12:05 PM

I think it is very interesting. Colors are unique. I have two teenage nephews who love red and black.

Judy in Waco 08-07-2010 12:06 PM

Gosh, I can't see a thing wrong with it. It's delightful. But then I'm a crazy kind of quiltmaker myself. Anything mixed up, bright, or crazy looking is what I love to do.

8-)

Confederate Rose 08-07-2010 01:24 PM

This is my kind of quilt and I really really do like it!

Ditter43 08-07-2010 01:25 PM

I like it!! :D

nana2 08-07-2010 02:40 PM

I love all the prints with just a pop of red now and again!!!!!!!! I've always thought the the D9P was that because you weren't suppose to be able to see that it is a Nine Patch. LOL

Fabricnut 08-07-2010 03:20 PM

I haven't figured out D9P quilting yet but I like your quilt. It looks very modern and the red sets it off. Nice work.

rootyr 08-07-2010 03:25 PM

I like it too!

Sheila Elaine 08-07-2010 04:02 PM

Fabricnut, go to top of page & type in D9P under Search. There should be a tutorial & other pics of it. Good luck w/your quilting ventures. Nice to have you onboard.

kacy 49 08-07-2010 04:52 PM

I love your quilt. It is beautiful. My favorite colors and you did such a great job on it.

Friendly Quilter 08-07-2010 05:36 PM

I like your quilt, but I know what you mean with the crazy nine patch. I think maybe if one used more solid colors, I don't know I have made three of them, so I guess I like the crazy look.
