Not quite a Dear Jane...

Hi, this started out as a Dear Jane and became a Dear Jeanne. I am Jeanne! Firstly, I just couldn't do the 4.5" blocks so the blocks are 7.5". Then I totally changed the border. Instead of the ice cream cones I made huge double layered prairie points. You can't see it on the photos, but the points have a shirt button in the point, holding them down and not flopping. The whole thing was quite a project and I respect anyone who stuck to the plan.

What a fantastic job. Love the points. Very original. Super job all the way. You are a very patient person.
Really like your Jeanne :). I recognize the Dear Jane blocks..reason -- I have all the 4 in finished blocks made and all the tris and corners. Ready to be joined These have been finished for 5 + years. Perhaps this will be the Fall that I actually get back to Jane. You have encouraged me.
Lovely job on your Jeanne and such a great idea to use the larger blocks Judy in Phx, AZ |
Really beautiful. I love it.
I like your version, my DJ with the 4.5" blocks, is still a UFO!
congrats, love your changes.
came out beautifully, love your color choices and LOVE that edging. the double prairie points. I love using them and never thought of doubling them. great job!!!!
Still. you made a fantastic quilt.
OMG, did you make all the blocks? That's quite an undertaking at any size. I like your border, wish I could see the whole thing.
I like your version better ~ congratulations on a well done quilt and I really like the double prairie points.
Wonderful work! Great idea to make your quilt with larger blocks! Its really attreactive!
I know what you mean about size of blocks of original......mine DJ is still a UFO, but I enlarged via the EQ program to 6 1/2" and that's still a challenge........love your Dear Jeanne, If I ever finish mine, I will name mine accordingly
Thanks for all the good will. I like it too! I think my good intentions of doing a real DJ were just that...intentions. But the Dear Jeanne still took awhile. But I am very pleased with her.
I admire anyone who can and did do the 4" blocks.... Bravo

Oh Jeanne, how fabulous.
I have a Dear Jenn quilt because that is me. It made up of 99 4" blocks that I customized. It was a very big undertaking, and like yours, is one of a kind! Your quilt is beautiful. I'm happy to know that there is another "dear" quilt out there named after the maker, who happens to have a one-syllable name that starts with J. |
Congrats on your Jeanne quilt - beautiful work!
Great idea! Love what you did. Beautiful.
Lovely interpretation of a Dear Jane. Having spent 7 years making mine - I know how time consuming it was. Yours is lovely. My DJ is linked in my signature below if you would care to have a look !
Congratulations. |
Dear Jane's are so crammed together and it is hard to separate them in your mind, so you solved that problem and came up with a stunning quilt that shows each and every block to it's best advantage. What a great idea.
Great looking!!!

Congratulations. |
This quilt is wonderful. I'm doing the same thing with my Farmer's Wife quilt. I like to think of quilt patterns the same as the pirate's code: "It's more of a guideline." (Pirates of the Caribbean fans will get the reference.)
Congratulations on your stick to itivness! lol. You quilt turned out very pretty.
You should be very pleased. It came out great.
Very nice quilt. Quilting is all about our own preferences. I really like how you took a difficult project and made it doable with your own style. KUDOS!!!
Gorgeous quilt! A lot of work for sure
Love your Dear Jeanne and the decision to go with a larger block
What a fantastic job! Love the prairie points!
You made it your own. Isn't that the point of quilting anyway? Love your tacked down prairie points too..........so original but appropriate. Pat yourself on the back as your persistence paid off big time!
Love your quilt. Seems so nice and bright.
Your Jeanne quilt is great, like how you named it!
what a great quilt, I started a dear Jane too some times ago, another UFO
Well done on a fantastic quilt!!!!
Absolutely gorgeous......i could never do something like that.......
Is there a Dear Jane pattern that is for 7 1/2" blocks?
Nice changes. Love it
That turned out very well. I like your versatility.
So you made it your own using Jane as a guide. The prairie points are very nice,
