Nothing But Pride
A little while back, I made a post called Pride and Jealousy, and another called Pride and Jealousy Part 2. I was caught between being proud of my son's hard work, and jealous that his points were nicer than mine ! He entered that very same quilt into the County Fair this year, and all my thoughts of jealousy have faded away, because there is way too much pride and excitement for those thoughts to stay. Our local County Fair opened on Tuesday, but we were unable to make it until Wednesday. This is what we found when we arrived in the arts and crafts building. You can not really see those ribbons too well from this far away … let me zoom in for you. http://i1.wp.com/slightlyoffquilter....size=650%2C487 Better, but just in case you can not quilt see it … Do you see that blue FIRST PLACE ribbon hiding under the participation ribbon on the left ? That is right ! 1st PLACE – Jr Division – Quilt, Any Size, Machine Quilted ! See that BIG Yellow ribbon ? BEST SEWING Junior Division !!! That covers the ENTIRE sewing division !!! Here is my oh so proud son with his quilt ! They hang the quilts up above so they can not be molested , so you can not see the entire quilt ( it is partially folded over due to size ) |
Very nicely done!!!

I don't even know him but I am so proud of him I can hardly sit still! I have seen your previous posts and wondered about how he did. Thanks for the follow up.

I remember when you posted this - because it was SO striking....i loved it. I don't know how you could even sit still long enough to type your thread or upload the photos ... you must be SO proud !! Your son deserves SERIOUS kudos for such great work and for the courage to submit it for "judging". CONGRATULATIONS TO HIM !!!!!! Given how well he did on this one - and the reward for his hard work - i expect we will be seeing more of his projects in the future. I already said it - but i love this quilt !!!
I know well the fair in Rhinebeck. I lived in Clinton Corners and won several blue ribbons at the fair. Your son did a beautiful job. Congratulations.
He did a great job! He has a wonderful quilting life ahead of him. We can always say "I saw pictures of his first quilt." He has the bug now -- it will be fun to see his next project.
You and your son have every reason to be bursting with pride. Congratulations to you both.
So deserving of all of those ribbons and the honor for such a wonderful quilt. No telling how far he will go in the quilting world!!~
Wow, congratulations! Amazing job
Great job and well deserved ribbons! Congrats to your son!
Beautiful! I used to go with family to the Dutchess County Fair as a child! Thank you for sharing the quilt and ribbons, and for bringing back memories!
The apple might not fall too far from the tree! Wonderful work, so glad you posted the ribbons because we got to really really check out those points! They are spot on. A major part of quilting is engineering! Takes a certain talent to put all the various aspects of piecing together and come out with --- well shall we say a winner! Ribbons say it all!
Kudos to him for great work! Worthy of those ribbons!
Thats just great. Watch out mother he will want to take over your sewing room
Big congrats!
Congratulations to him...a pretty quilt.
Be proud, young man, be very, very proud!!
Bravo! I love that quilt and I'm not much of a racing fan. Congrats!
Woo Hoo - be sure to tell him great job from all of us!
Wow!!! So happy for both of you!!! Keep up the good work because I see many more ribbons in his future. :)
Again, he's proving my theory that guys make the BEST quilts!!! Well deserved ribbons...
Love the quilt with the interwoven flying geese...the checkered material really ties in the car emblems. It was beautifully done. Mom, you have every reason to be proud of your son and his workmanship should give him a source of pride as well. So happy to see that the county fair recognized the quality of his work, too. Thanks for sharing his achievement.
