My hand is holding four in one pic and one in the other.

jackied 05-27-2011 01:07 PM

Mercy! Sure hope it didn't last long.

cathyvv 05-27-2011 01:08 PM

Those'll put a dent in your car, for sure. Probably wouldn't feel very good hitting your head, either!

kathyd 05-27-2011 01:09 PM

OUCH!!!!
We lucked out here and only had rain yesterday. I guess your getting part of that storm!
Stay safe.

jojosnana 05-27-2011 01:10 PM

This is just the strangest weather yet.

GreatStarter 05-27-2011 01:13 PM

Wow! When hail that big hit this area years ago it destroyed siding on houses, and dented cars. Glad it appears the storm was quick and the hail wasn't solid round pieces that big. It would have been much worse for you if it had been. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Big hail, that size could do a lot of damage to a lot of things. I'm glad you are okay.

Rebecca VLQ 05-27-2011 01:19 PM

We're in Fuquay...didn't get hail but almost pulled out the boat to row to the mailbox! :D

I just came in from checking our car.
No damage.

Praise The Lord for his divine protection.

And yes being hit with hail of any size does hurt.

Blessings to all,
Sandi

The rain was coming down sideways here for a while.
Still have hail on the ground and more rain is coming.

Be safe, all those in the path of these storms.
They are powerful.

Blessings,
Sandi

KiwiQuilter 05-27-2011 01:39 PM

Goodness - that's big!

zyxquilts 05-27-2011 01:48 PM

Wow! I think the biggest hail I've seen in person was, maybe, 1/4" across!

Stay safe!!

Debbie B 05-27-2011 01:55 PM

Wow...that's big. A couple of days ago my area got hit with a bad storm. There was 3 1/2" hailstones in Bellbrook & Centerville Oh. My area just got a bad thunderstorm. Friends that live in Bellbrook had hail damage to their roof, the siding on their house will have to be replaced and 2 cars have broken windshield & big dents all over. The leaves from their trees were stripped & plastered all over their house. Very Scary.

QUILTNMO 05-27-2011 01:56 PM

I'm in Wadesboro. We had heavy rain today but nothing like the hail you had. Glad you're okay!

nativetexan 05-27-2011 02:27 PM

those look like huge diamonds. save them!!

craftiladi 05-27-2011 02:31 PM

Oh goodness Sandi...glad to hear no damage. We had hail last week and while it looked like snow piled up nothing like what you got. I have been enjoying our spring type weather and have been out doing some yard work but it won't last long another rain storm on the way.

That exactly the size of hail that fell in some towns near me a couple of days ago. Friends really had some damage to their cars & homes. It was 3 1/2" and looked like a baseball...just like in your picture. I hope you didn't have a lot of damage.

Oh my gosh, that is HUGE!

Hubby saw hail that big years ago.
Such destruction with hail that size.

Glad you guys are okay from that.

Blessings,
Sandi

nanababy 05-27-2011 04:54 PM

My word, I hope your roof is ok, we had a hailstorm a few years ago with baseball size hail, that was beyond my imagination, boy did it do some damage. Had to have 3 new windows,3 storm windows and a new roof...

blueangel 05-27-2011 05:49 PM

A couple years ago we had golf ball size. Every house in town got a new roof.

luckylindy333 05-27-2011 05:52 PM

Ouchiee!

craftybear 05-27-2011 05:58 PM

Sure was a hail storm! We got some of the same last evening. It broke the flood lights out on our neighbors house. Beat leaves off trees, too.

Sure calmed down today, though. Supposed to be clear and hot thru next Wed.

cctx. 05-27-2011 06:14 PM

I believe it.

Susanna10 05-27-2011 06:20 PM

OUCH!!!!!!!!

Dotsie 05-28-2011 03:27 AM

Prayers for you and sympathy to those who lost dear ones. Funny shapes of hail?

I hope you don't get to see any bigger - it is devastating when they are. We live in a hailstone 'belt' where they are usually the size of cherries. However, every now and then they are 'golf balls' or 'oranges' and we have to repair roofs, windows and cars.

We had one hit central Florida about ten years ago. Had to replace the roof, all the windows (dents in the frames), two out buildings and the car. All told......$22,000. Oh, and totally destroyed all the plants I had just spent two weeks planting. My Gardenias and Camelias were just sticks.

BrandyMcCoy 05-28-2011 04:48 AM

Holy cow, thats some huge hail!

maddenkids8 05-28-2011 04:51 AM

Do you get that kind of weather often? I have a recent college graduate looking for a teaching job in the Carolinas-are there any areas you would suggest looking? We are from Illinois. Thanks

nannya54 05-28-2011 05:01 AM

Usually when we in Nebraska get hail that size, we have dents and new roofs. Have an insurance adjuster check it out to be sure.

SewExtremeSeams 05-28-2011 06:01 AM

Wow, Sandi, that is big! I am pretty sure that would be a great reason for you and Danny to move to Washington State! LOL

Glad you didn't have any damage. God bless you. :-D
