Nursery Rhyme Baby Quilt
1 Attachment(s)
I just finished this this afternoon--it took many hours of embroidery to do this! The batting is stippled and quilted before the embroidery is done and then you assemble the blocks. The pattern said to then add another piece of batting and the backing, stitching in the ditch around the blocks to finish it. I used a piece of flannel instead of batting under the backing. I quilted the flannel and backing together on my Block RockiT and then attached it to the front. That worked really well and I didn't have to worry about puckers. The embroidery pattern is from Anita Goodesign and named Nursery Rhyme.

I can only imagine the time you have into your embroidered blocks...and they are beautiful. What a darling quilt. Great job!

I have had my BlockRockiT a little over 3 years and I really do like it. As with any machine, you have to watch your tension but I've never been afraid of adjusting things, so I have no issues with it. I haven't done a big quilt on it as I tend right now to make smaller ones, but I have a couple of large ones in progress. I am having good luck using Bottom Line bobbin thread in the bobbin and Connecting Threads Essential Pro in the needle--they work really well together for me. The price was an issue with me as I knew I wasn't going to do this for a business so this machine fit in really well. I already had the frame with a Juki TL98Q on it, so all I had to purchase was the machine--they price was very reasonable. One day I may get a longer frame as mine is only 8 feet, but it works.

That is a lovely baby quilt. You did a beautiful job.
|
I love the quilt! I have an embroidery machine and love combining embroidery with quilting! But I agree it's time consuming. I did a pattern of a humming bird last night. It had 32 thread changes and was 36 minutes of embroidery time, but with all the thread changes it took me two hours! But have to saw it's beautiful. I will post a picture when it is all finished.
|
that is just too cute
