NYB Corners Finished

2 Attachment(s)
A while ago I asked for advice on how to sew a NYB block: http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...k-t254003.html

I'm hand-piecing and I decided to use fusible interfacing as foundation for the arc of triangles (as I had that on hand and didn't want to wait to get muslin first).

I've just finished the fourth and last corner tonight and the quilt top now measures 61' square. That is wide enough to fit my spare bed, however, I am thinking of adding some pieced border (maybe with four patches from the same fabrics as the central unit - if I still have enough fabric...?) to change the shape of the quilt from square to rectangular (and make it long enough for a bed).

Always a challenge to get a rectangle from a square.

I love your design. The center calms the feeling of the quilt with all the points. Your color is excellent too. Great job.

This is only my second quilt top that is bigger than a baby quilt and it was MUCH easier than it may look now! :) The inspiration for the middle comes from this picture: http://www.missrosiesquiltco.bigcart...rie-pdf-no-470 That part was REALLY easy! (it's mainly just four patches).

Then I decided to set the block on point and add the corners. Again, doing those NYB blocks was easier than I thought (I've never done anything curved before...). So, right now I'm working on some pieced border to change the shape of the quilt from square to rectangular.

I guess if you do it like me and just do one part at a time it's not half as scary as it looks! ;) What scares me a bit, though, is thinking about how to hand-quilt the top once it's done... But let's take it one step at a time!
