finally got the book. love working on the quilt but, the colors are driving me crazy. i didn't want to invest too much in case i didn't like working on this pattern. found this at WM for $4 a yd. will definately do one in softer colors. what do you think
Oh my! That is nice!! I am amazed at how nice that fabric worked !
I am not a huge fan of the colors in the original fabric, but it does make a really striking OBW! Maybe your eyes are just a bit tired from the brightness? Take a little break to work on something else, maybe just a few hours or so on a UFO. I would bet you will look at it differently when you go back to it. It looks great!!
I worked on one that I didn't particularly like all of the blocks in, so I tossed out a few blocks and it all came together better for me. I like our quilt as it is, but you might try tossing a few blocks aside and seeing what happens.
I think it looks fantastic. Hard to believe its the same fabric (which is a bit "out there".). Maybe as Craftyone suggested give your eyes a rest...but do finish it, you have made a very average fabric shine.
I love it. I can see it with a black border.
I like your quilt.Same thing happened to me,colors too bright,so never got finished.Maybe I'll try another one some day for a wall hanging.
I think it looks good.

I think it is goreous
I think it would make a great rug!!!
I love it looks completely different after being cut
WOW! What a pleasant surprise. Love the blocks.
I'm amazed at how good it is looking, considering that I did not think the original fabric would work at all. Keep going!
It's wild but when I am working on something that is bugging my brain I let it sit for a day or two and then go back to it... sometimes a little break can help you see what you didn't see before...
I agree with the black...show us a pic when you finish it.. |
Keep going, its awesome. If you frame it in a solid black it will really help to calm it down. Can't wait to see if finished!

It is actually great fabric for an OBW. I've done one in it, as well as in the blue. Here they are.
I think you'll like it better once it's together. It looks good to me! Blue Dragon OBW Red Dragon OBW |
Ooohhh, Aaaahhh, I love it.

I like it.

i planned on using a black border if my eyes can hold out to get that far. thanks for the suggestions and encouragement. i needed someone elses opinions.
Ohhhh!! I like it!!
I think it's looking awesome. Amazing to see it come together like that. Who would've thought?
OH I Love the colors!!! Your doing great!
I really like it
Comes up looking a lot better in the OBW than the original fabric. Somehow the concentration of the colors by the process kind of levels them out and makes them more pleasing. It is still very bright but blends together better. Good work.
I love it!!! I love how bright it is and love how it's turning out!!!
My son loves that fabric...made lounge pants from it. I used the scraps in a red/black/white quilt for DGS...hard to keep from having any of the gold in the squares...but the OBW changes it all.
Your OBW is coming out great! Do you have more blocks with predominantly red but some gold? I'd add some more of them to the left side if you do. |
Connie, I would never have imagined that the fabric you used would turn out so well! I like bright colors, so I like this one. I did a OBW, but it was called Stack 'n Whack back then.
This is SUPER! |
WOW!!!! It is turning out great. Isn't it great to get such a nice result.
OH, that just spins!!! Love it.
I like it!
a freind did one in this fabric, turnd out great, I quilted it for her with a flame design.
Oh yeah, I LIKE it!
I like it!
Would love to see it as you finish it. |
Love the blocks. Didn't think that fabric would work up so well.:)
I must ask, what is OBW?
I think the quilt is coming together beautifully. I would never have thought that fabric would work but it sure does. |
I love oranges, browns and creams, so I think it is beautiful! Remember, it is in the eye of the beholder so if you don't like it, find someone whose eye beholds it as beautiful :)
I must say I really did not like the original fabric but it is making a fine OBW. If you look at my avatar you will see my colors were similar. I threw in a touch of BLUE hear and there just to shake it up a bit. Perhaps you could try that in a spot or two.
I like your OBW. |
