There were orphan blocks from a Basket Weave quilt...and when I bought a panel of nursery rhyme characters I knew the colors were a perfect match (well, I thought so). I had to add borders to the panel squares to make it work, but that gave me the chance to add more blue. It's a perfect 48" square. I am totally delighted with this little quilt. It's not going up for sale--after it's finished it's going onto the guest bed, to stay safely under the bedspread until a grandchild shows up--no matter how long it takes.

I'm not adding a border; the binding will be in green. I have to think about how to quilt it.

I couldn't decide which photo was better, so I'll post both.

VERY NICE! I have the kit that came out for that panel that I got a year or so ago. It's all washed and ready to make up. I love it too. I'll post a pic when I finally get it done. Sandra

Oh yes--Sandra--post yours! It's fun to see different things done with blocks.

And I don't want a grandbaby TOO soon... the wedding is in July...so they need 3-4 years at least to enjoy being newlyweds. And Mark and I are enjoying our between years.

A friend wants to buy another baby quilt, so I need to get busy so she has a choice!

Mousie 01-17-2010 07:41 AM

I love how you came up with the idea to frame the nursery rhyme blocks in blue, to go w the pink. I can do that on ppr at home, but it's hard in the fabric store sometimes.

Chele 01-17-2010 07:43 AM

Very cute! I love those nursery rhyme blocks.

That is so pretty, I love the colors. Hope you don't have to wait too long for a grandchild; If I'd known how great grandchildren are, I'd have skipped the kids and gone straight to the grandkids! LOL

eparys 01-17-2010 09:50 AM

I too bought these blocks to do a quilt - I love what you did with it. The orphan blocks look fantastic with them. I will post mine when I have completed my top.

Lauren and Donny said they wanted to wait 5 years, then Lauren said she wanted to be a mom before she was 30 lol

Jim's Gem 01-17-2010 04:03 PM

Cute!! They look perfect together!!

barnbum 01-17-2010 04:10 PM

Well--Terri--they'll be 28 at their five year reunion, so that's in plenty of time. I want them to be financially ready--it saves on stress. And I want to be closer to retirement so I can babysit!! :-D

Bevanger 01-18-2010 06:51 AM

I love it!

gaigai 01-18-2010 07:31 AM

I love it! And I had to go from panel to panel and recite each rhyme. Does that date me? LOL

Lyn4ty 01-18-2010 09:36 AM

It's wonderful and future grandkid is very lucky!
