Hey there guys & gals, here is a pic of my 2nd lap quilt. It's for my sister's 60th birthday and she just loves dolphins. It has a fleece backing. It's quite heavy and I'm having trouble even sewing straight lines on it. Not good yet on free motion quilting and I'm really stressing!!!! :| Any ideas!

If you haven't gotten a lot of the quilting done, maybe you should tie it. Its very pretty.

Very pretty quilt, I agree maybe tie it.

Heavily spray starching both the top and backing might help. You would need to lay down a sheet to catch any overspray. Spray a later of starch, run a fan to speed drying, spray again, etc. until the side is heavily starched, then turn quilt over and do the same on the other side.

Have you tried a walking foot? If you can adjust the presser foot pressure, you might try adjusting that also to accommodate the thickness. Got any scraps to practice on?
|
I would tie it.

Are you using a walking foot?

Or you can do wavy lines on purpose. I did this on a few.

Haven't used fleece yet, so I can't help, but I do like this quilt!
Happy Birthday to your sister! |
