Oh, I don't think I'd have to regift what's in this package. UNLESS....whatever it is that is making the noise belongs to the reptile family. lol
I can't wait!! If we were to go by MY time/dates, I only have 7 more days, but I have to go by what Shadow says and that's NOT fair!!! lol

Teri, I was pretty sure you wouldn't "re-gift" your SS gift ...I was just suggesting a possible way to get SD's blessing to OPEN it early. You dont' have to re-gift but if she thought you were going to do that she might let you open early! My SS gift hasn't made any noice in days so I think it must be sleeping.

No, if you read back in the thread, I have tried just about EVERYTHING to get her to let me open this package. If I mentioned the thought of maybe regifting....she's come and smack me! lol

You are right, I'm not the sweety pie everyone thinks on this board. My true EVIL personality is emerging. Be afraid, be very afraid...

Good Luck with that decision.

Personally I say NO... I gots to much sh to do to be wasteing time on people who won't appreciate it.

But hey that is just my opinion!

We experienced a similar situation in our ILs. The thing was, that each family "sent" family gifts to each other. It got to where we were beginning to duplicate gifts. It just got to be too much. One year, we just stopped altogether. But I made baked goodies and delivered to their homes. The following year, no gift. Just a visit. It was a little uncomfortable at first to receive, but not to give. But they finally got the idea. If the gift-giving becomes a chore or a hassle, it loses the true meaning of the season.
That kind of sentiment ruins the spirit of the season. So, I say, let your gift be a visit, a personal call, or a special letter.

I know that some families are scattered far away from home. Our family members live in close proximity. We are so blessed.

Even in our immediate family, we don't give gifts to everyone. The adults do what we call Cajun Christmas. On Christmas Eve, each person brings one gift and during the gathering, we play a game where each person gets to choose a gift in turn. Then the gift can be "stolen", etc. It's a fun game that can really get spirited. Each year there is always at least one gift that is the hit and causes much competition. I'm sure there are many variations to this game, but it has solved the problem of "what to get". It has also helped the budget. This year we have decided to think back and try to repeat items that have been hits at other Christmases. Last year the gift that caused the most stir was the paper shredder. I'll bet there will be another one this year.

Terri--love your apron glad you are making for your MIL and FIL they will be thrilled.

We decided to not exchange gifts with my hubby family about 15 years ago money was tight at that time so they decided that they no longer wanted to do Christmas with us. I guess if some don't get gifts than you can't just enjoy everyones company and get together for a meal. There loss not ours.

My family is tooo large to give gifts so we always just got together for a meal----hubby likes my family better!!!hehehe

Years ago my side of the family gave up on buying each other gifts. We were all at the point in our lives where we could go out and buy whatever we wanted when we wanted it so we just all chatted one Thanksgiving about NOT exchanging gifts at Christmas. EVERYONE was thrilled with the idea as buying gifts for lots of people as we all know is expensive, time consuming and the gifts are NEVER right in size, style, etc.

We have 6 kids, all married with families so what we did about 10 years ago was rent a place big enough for 40 people for the family to gather altogether for the holiday....the rent for the place is our gift to our kids. Nobody has to clean or worry about where everyone is going to sleep when it's "their turn" for all the family to converge at their house for the holiday. For our grandkids we gave them money. The GKs are now starting to get married, have families etc. Their Christmas money amount from us NEVER changes ll no matter how many new family members come along. This works beautifully for us and our kids and our grands always say the Christmas house and time together is their favorite week end of the year. Oh! yes, the other thing we do. Each family is in charge of one meal from planning, food purchasing, prep to clean up then they are done for the week end (3 nights, 4 days usually). We all love this as it spreads the work and expense of the meals around as with 30 or 40 people it gets to be a big job to feed them all. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
