I went to an estate sale today and bought a sewing box and these were in it among old sewing needles, wooden spools of thread and other notions I dont know the names for.

I am wondering if the one on the right is a walking foot.

Not sure of any of them, but #6 and 7 look like they may be for putting in zippers. My zipper foot for my Janome is like those, except it has a indent on both sides.

i know #2 is a seam guide

#2 is a seam guide. It screws to the bed of your machine. #6 and #7 appear to be zipper feet. #5 is not a walking foot but a roller foot. Would like to see a better picture of #1.

2 seam guide 3 button foot 4 cording foot ? would have to see the bottom 5 roller foot 6&7 i believe are zipper feet one for each side of zipper 1 is the one you use to do straight line quilting and use that arm thing to follow previous line of stitching no idea on 8 but it looks like it may clip on bottom of some foot??

#3 looks like it would be for putting on buttons. 6 and 7 for zippers or piping, # 2 looks like a seam guide.

#1 is a quilde for quilting straight lines once you get your first line straight. #2 is a 1/4" guide. I have one on my piecing machine. #3? 4? #5 is an early upper feeder - yes, an early walking foot. # 6 and #7 are for zippers or cording. These are short shank attachments and will fit a lot of modern machine. My fav is a ruffler. It looks like a minature instrument for torture.

will a roller foot #5 work as a walking foot?

Digitizingqueen 09-08-2011 01:29 PM

I think number one might be a rufler but I would need a better look at it to be sure

#5 in the 2nd pic is for sewing leather, according to one of my manuals.
