She's dancing. Makes me think of that song they play at weddings.

Love this chicken. Cuter than any I currently raise. My new chicks will be cute but not as colorful.
Love the chicken club idea. Never made a chicken block. Where do I get some patterns or ???

barnbum 07-15-2009 03:44 AM

He looks like the leader of your flock!! He's awesome! :D

zennia 07-15-2009 04:11 AM

Love your colorful chicken. As I write I am waiting for my fabric ,same as your background, to dry so I can get started making some.
I love country so I am taking an old window frame I have and framing my chicken blocks with it. Works in my head, hope it works in reality.
A chicken club would be fun and I hope to be a member soon.
Fatcatpatterns has a lot of chicken patterns.

sandpat 07-15-2009 04:16 AM

Yes, fatcatpatterns has lots of cute chicken patterns.

I think we do already have this "unofficial" chicken club...

Mamagus 07-15-2009 05:53 AM

I have been away for a few days, but I agree with Melissa and MArcia... my fellow chick quilt completers... you're in the club! Hope you're addicted!

sandpat 07-15-2009 08:34 AM

Oh....so now you tell me the club can have hanger-ons...but you aren't really in until the quilt is completed  ???? Darn...I'm a lot better at starting than completing...that comes much slower for me

I must not have read the fine print. I may need a judgment by the officials.

Once you make your first block, you are officially in the club. But once you complete the quilt, you get "THE GOLDEN EGG" award!!!!!  http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/s...aughing025.gif

sandpat 07-15-2009 04:03 PM

AH HA!!! Well, I want the GOLDEN EGG award...I might just have to use the old "use my chicken blocks as my center for the IRR" trick to get it completed... Completed is completed right???? I don't have to do it all myself...I can share the love with friends, right???

gaigai 07-15-2009 06:45 PM

Um, not to appear too ungrateful here, but where does this golden egg come from? Butt from?

'Cause I've already ordered my chicken pattern so I can join the club, but I'm not so sure about the egg. Can we eat it?

tuesy 07-15-2009 07:14 PM

Love your chicken!!!

Well you just get a picture of one!!! Or maybe I just end up with egg on my face!!!

kwhite 07-15-2009 09:19 PM

ROFL Ok now I need to finish the quilt. I can do that. I have the third chicken printed right here in front of me.

Phew! What a relief! ROFLMBO. OK, well, the journey of a dozen chickens begins with a single feather. I ordered my pattern last night, just have to wait for it to arrive!

Pam Pollock 07-15-2009 11:53 PM

Love the chicken!!! Very cute!!!

quiltwoman 07-16-2009 02:41 AM

Great looking chicken/rooster. Can't wait to see the next one.

sandpat 07-16-2009 03:43 AM

If I weren't such an honest person....I thought I'd just download that award RIGHT now...before my chickens are finished....but....then I chickened out

Feathers 07-16-2009 03:46 AM

What a fun chicken wall hanging. I love it.

Mousie 07-19-2009 05:43 AM

kwhite 07-19-2009 05:45 AM

Shore nuff!!!!

Esqmommy 07-19-2009 05:48 AM

I'm in for the chicken club!!! My DMIL loves chickens, hens etc and I have the fabric to make her a pillow for Christmas. I'm working on soccer quilts for the kids right now, but will make the pillow soon...

Want to do a chicken block swap??

kwhite 07-19-2009 06:06 AM

That would be tons af fun and will expand everyone's chicken stash.

That idea has popped up.
I also had an idea of doing a cat block swap too!

bj 07-19-2009 06:09 AM

That is so cute! I love the colors and expression. Is it going to be a wallhanging?

Esqmommy 07-19-2009 06:10 AM

What if we did an animal swap? Say pick up to five blocks...if you put in a chicken, you get a chicken...if you put in a kitty, you get a kitty, etc. Horses, dogs, LIZARDS, dragon flies, lady bugs, all kinds of creatures...or we could limit it to only animals.

I've never organized something like this but would be "game" to try it. PittsburgPam lives close to me...maybe she wants to get in on it?? Let me know if there's interest...seriously, and I'll work on it.

gaigai 07-19-2009 06:13 AM

Wait a minute!! How can PittsburgPam live in California! If she can be PittsburgPam and live in California, I want to be ShenandoahGaigai!

It depends on how many blocks I make. I imagine knowing me it will end up quite large cause I rarely say "enough already"

By block do you mean a square of fabric or a pieced block?

Esqmommy 07-19-2009 06:17 AM

Notice there is no "h" in the Pittsburg...There's Pittsburgh PA and Pittsburg CA...

Bet there's other Pittsburg cities sprinkled about...just like there's a Paris, Texas!! My son asked if we could go to Paris today and I said sure...thinking of Paris Texas!

I'm thinking pieced blocks...

How about reposting this in the swap section????

Esqmommy 07-19-2009 06:25 AM

Do I repost, or what? Do I need permission to start a swap? I'll read the rules and see what to do.

tlrnhi 07-19-2009 06:26 AM

I was going to post for it, but was waiting until the Black and White wound down and the Blue and Yellow got going.

Esqmommy 07-19-2009 06:30 AM

I just PMd Patrice to see what she thinks...

Did you see the material that omak sent me for the mare stare?
So perfect for a chicken swap!!!

tlrnhi 07-19-2009 06:34 AM

I saw that!
I'm still looking for the RIGHT stuff to send you.
Not exactly sure what I want to put in the package.
Nothing is "talking" to me and telling me it wants to go and visit you.
