It's really pretty, looks like you hit the theme of the nursery well too.

angelahen 08-31-2011 12:17 AM

Yup I see it, I have to me honest and didn't till you told me. But I really liked it and thought it was an original baby quilt - in a really good way. The tree is obvious - I am not awake yet!

I also agree with making baby quilts how I want to. I tend to make them with what I am in the mood to make. I have seen 2 posts this morning of different baby quilts and love them (yours being one) both.

sparkys_mom 08-31-2011 03:42 AM

Great idea! I think you did a good job and the tree stands out. She should be pleased.

4girlsmimi 08-31-2011 03:44 AM

Looks good to me. Very pretty quilt.

ccrow99 08-31-2011 04:04 AM

Absolutely adorable and if this were in an art gallery....they'd love your tree!!!

Scrap Happy 08-31-2011 04:15 AM

It’s beautiful and yes I see the cherry tree. I could see it before your 2nd pic pointing it out. You did a wonderful job and the colors are so pretty.

annthreecats 08-31-2011 04:27 AM

What a clever idea. Love the cherry tree. It's a beautiful quilt for the new baby.

SparkMonkey 08-31-2011 04:57 AM

I can clearly see the tree! What a gorgeous quilt--really, really good job.

Personally, I like it when baby quilts match the nursery. I still make whatever pattern I want (though I do try to choose something that suits the parents' taste, whether it's more traditional or contemporary), but I like knowing that the colors will go together. That way the parents can decide if the quilt will be "used" or simply decoration. I'm happy with either--and I make sure they know that I'm happy to perform any necessary repairs over the life of the quilt. ;)

gmcsewer 08-31-2011 05:42 AM

I liked it before I saw the tree. I think the 'hidden' tree makes it even nicer.

FERSID 08-31-2011 09:24 AM

Sorry.......... no I don't see it unless I realllllllllllly stretch my imagination - but even then, not really.

Hope I don't offend but you asked for honesty.

KVz 08-31-2011 09:28 AM

Guess I'm a bit excited this morning. I looked at the quilt BEFORE I read your text and thought, "What a great stylized tree in bloom." Must admit, I didn't think cherry, probably because I don't get to see them often, but I certainly DID see the tree before you said it! I love it!

Ditto, needed the story to see the tree. Great job and lovely colors.

tutty 08-31-2011 10:17 AM

good job and yes I figured it out quickly !

JCL in FL 08-31-2011 10:31 AM

I see it. And with the given idea coming from the Mom I'll be she is really going to love it.
I agree with you, it is much easier to work on a quilt that you picked out the pattern than try to fit into some others mold. That being said I ask for some color ideas. sometimes so it will kinda fit. But quilts aren't always in the nursery and I find the simpler ones are used more and not saved. I like my baby quilts to be used.

dphelps 08-31-2011 11:09 AM

I see it and I think the quilt is very pretty. I am sure it will be loved.

Wow! Thanks everyone for the great comments - positive and negative. It's too late to do anything different now, but at least the majority of you recognized it. Now at least it won't be embarassing to give to them.
