oh love love love the fabrics!! Can't wait to see it. I'm thinking of doing one with the timeless treasures sugar plum fabrics but some of those batiks have fairly large prints and wide variety of colors in one cut. After seeing yours I think I'm going back to the drawing board. Thanks for sharing!!

Karla,
I love your fabrics. It should be beautiful. I can't wait to see it finished.
Here is a picture of the one my daughter and I made for her oldest son. I am also sending the help files that I told you about. It might be too late for you to use them, but maybe they will be of some use..
Have a great time with that bargello.
Julie

Julie--wozers is that gorgeous!! Perfect for a guy, too! I love how you pick your colors--with the creams and the black accenting... how about I send you what I have ready and you put it together? I'll even send strips rather than yardage!

Do you have pics of the others you've done? This is the second photo I've seen and I remember you've done four, right?

Thank you so much for the downloads... going to print those now.

Shemjo 12-31-2010 11:39 AM

I have over half the strips cut, then discovered one batik was short--35" rather than 40-42". I didn't want that to cause troubles later, so I took about seven fabrics to a Mennonite shop this morning and found three more that had possibilities... I used two here.

I did cut one fabric the opposite direction--NOT selvege to selvege because of the print. I'll be careful--and batiks don't seem to stretch the way normal kinds of cottons do.

I still have a lot of cutting to do... but some day I'll be back with some photos of this done!

Delicious, inviting, yet soothing colors. Thanks for sharing.

Sharon Chaffino 01-01-2011 12:25 PM

Karla, A little hint for your next bargello. I have made a few and when I find a strip is short, I piece a strip of the same fabric to make it long enough. When you make your second cuts, often times that seam falls on a cut line. If it doesn't, I'll unsew on that little piece and remove the seam. If you don't want to remove the seam, you can just use it as is. You can't see the seam and it doesn't distract from the finished quilt. It would save you from having to change fabrics. After all, it is called piecing for a reason
