......but what the heck do I use this for? A friend gave me a whole bunch of this stuff in different colors.

It's bias binding usually used for finishing seams.. I've used it for hems and dress necklines or armholes that I'm afraid will fray..
I'll be she thought you could use it to bind quilts, but I think those are too narrow. Ahh, the yellow one is a pre-made quilt binding.. so it's wider. still it's only one thickness and there's usually not enough to do a whole quilt in one packet....your call.

Ahhhhh, okay. :)

You can also use them for Celtic knot type patterns. Depending on the width, you may be able to adapt stained glass patterns. Have fun with it, play a little!

I use it to bind my quilts. If you have all colors the same width, use it just like a scrappy binding. That is so cool, I wish I had a friend like that! :D

What a TERRIFIC idea! I was at a garage sale one year and found a shoe box FULL of this stuff ... as a hunter/gatherer, (hoarder <g>) I couldn't pass up the great deal, but the binding hasn't been disappearing any too quickly. It will now - - if I can remember where I put it <g>
Thanks for posing the question and the suggestions. Such creative minds and hands on this list. !!!
