Boy, that was a lot of work for one block! I must say that I LOVE this! I totally love the colors and the pattern, even if it is a little difficult. It took careful pressing and deciding which way each seam allowance should go. There is a lot of bulk with some of the blocks, like the center one.

OK, maybe a little obsessive making sure the blocks are exactly the right size.

Now that you have the hang of it, the rest should be easy, right?

pittsburgpam 12-04-2010 08:27 AM

Oh yeah... maybe by the time I get to the 11th one it will be easy. :D The 12th, and last, block should be a breeze!

What a beautifull block! Great color choices on both. I think some people does a great job picking up the right fabric. You surely are one of those. Congrats. Shows us the full project when done!

Wow I love it, your colors just really make the block. I just looked up the pattern and had to do a double take - yours is just so much more dramatic - I love it.

Thanks,

Be sure to post when you get the whole thing together, its beautiful.

pittsburgpam 12-04-2010 06:11 PM

My piecing really improved when I got my Viking Sapphire. The 1/4" setting is 1.8 and I move it one more tick over to 2.0 (scant 1/4).

I do love these fabrics and colors, it makes me think of leather.

sustraley 12-04-2010 06:14 PM

Beautiful block, but that would have to be a whole quilt for me.

Cuddly Quilter 12-04-2010 11:03 PM

This is stunning. Going to be very interesting to see the whole quilt finished. I am a person who likes bright colours, but am enjoying the earth tones more and more. Just made my mom one with earth colours and blue. Turned out very well.

Good luck and keep us updated.

This is a beauty...well worth the time you are taking with it. Very subtle palette....your colour choices are superb (says she blushing....who is currently constructing a scrappy/wonky/freeform in brights!).
