what a great quilt ! The colors and all are just awesome.

cutebuns 03-31-2010 02:20 PM

I still say that it had nothing to do with me, I had outstanding students and a lot of support!

Just as an added inspiration, here is a OBW that was on display at the Lancaster Quilt show last week. I hthink the original fabric is on the side and bottom.

These are unbelievable. Great work!

All of the pictures of the quilts are amazing. This is something I have never seen before. Where did the idea come from? Who is responsible for this innovation? Very impressive, all of them.

Quilter7x 04-01-2010 07:01 AM

What a clever way of showing the starting fabric - and in making the entire quilt wider at the same time!

There are two books by Maxine Rosenthal - One Block Wonders, and One Block Wonders Encore. These describe the method, hints at choosing fabrics, and show lovely examples. A new book One Block Wonders Cubed is released today, which majors on the hollow cubes.

Awesome quilts!

KSCrafter 04-15-2010 12:12 PM

Great job everyone! I'm so glad this thread was started so we can see the final results. I've got to finish my for-hire jobs, and then will be doing one of these for myself. I've been hesitant on picking fabrics, but from what I can tell, I just need to choose something with predominate colors I like.

jean knapp 04-15-2010 06:03 PM

cqn you share the pattern? I have a general idea how to do the cubes but how did you incorporate it into the quilt? Thanks Jeannie

craftybear 04-15-2010 06:09 PM

Jeannie...go look under the "Tutorial" section on the Main menu. There is a tute there for the cubes and also some great tutes by CuteBuns about the OBW...listed as hexagons...

Were is cutebuns tut. on the one block wonder. I really want to try one making one. Talk about awsome. :-D

SandyMac 05-11-2010 04:46 PM

I found the tut and book marked it thanks.I didn't stop to look at so does anyone know if it mentions yardage and sizes.

cutebuns 05-11-2010 07:43 PM

It doesn't state yardage and sizes as it all depends on the print that you choose to how much you need and what size that is best to cut, There is a few people that can definitely help you with that, just ask, either myself, one of the students or any of the many people that have done one can help,

nana pat 05-11-2010 10:29 PM

oh my goodness, I love these, how are they done? Is there a free pattern somewhere? I am staying up all night on this sight, you quilters are all awesome.
