This is a quilt top that belongs to my mother but will go to me when she passes... it is one my great grandmother pieced... I think it is about 50 years old or older. It is done in red, pink, and yellow. I love this top and hopefully will one day quilt it. I have seen the design before but cannot think of the name of the block at the moment... if you know then please share with us all!!! Thanks for looking.
This is the entire quilt This in one of the blocks |
Sorry I do not know the name of that quilt but it is beatiful. Thanks for sharing.

No idea, but it is beautiful and very well pieced.
Very nice.

What a great quilt! If you had not said that it was old, I would have thought it was a modern quilt. The colors are very "today". I don't know the name of the block either and I'm not sure if I've ever seen one just like it. Hope you will finish the quilt one day and enjoy it! It's a wonderful heirloom.
PS - too bad Mom won't let you finish it now so she could enjoy it on her bed for a while.... |
I know you will enjoy it. Love the pattern.
Can't help you with a name. Beautiful top!
Nope, don't know the name...but it's GORGEOUS!!! :)
very pretty, love the colors, as someone else said, looks like modern quilt colors
This is truly a piece of workmanship. There are so many set-in corners, which makes it spectacular. Was it all hand sewn?
(I've noticed that there are not many modern quilts made with set-in corners anymore. It is easier to make hst or whatnot than to do this kind of tricky sewing. Makes this a true treasure!) |

I think the block is a Carpenter`s Wheel. It certainly fits the modern look. I think it's beautiful. Enjoy.

Just beautiful...can't wait to see more.

People are so lucky to have quilts that were made by their ancesters. I don't think any of mine quilted. I have never seen or heard about any, and they are all dead now so I can't ask!
Beautiful. I just love family stuff.
I wish I knew the pattern name, but it is wonderful! It looks like a sunflower with all the bright colors. I never would have guessed its age! A real treasure!

Beautiful Block pattern
Very pretty & bright quilt.
What a treasure, but I can't help to identify the quilt block. Maybe going on Quilter's cache, you might find the block, or something similar.
thanks for all the comments... I think it is gorgeous too... once I learn to quilt I hope my mom with let me quilt it. I have another one that she made that I believe is Trip around the world... I will take pics and post it too...
OH MY Those are gorgeous. I would have them quilted for your mother so she can enjoy them and you can then enjoy them too.
I have one of my Grandmother's quilt that we had quilted just recently... It currently graces the bed in the guest room. I am replicating it so that the other bed will match. |
Maybe your Mom would allow you to quilt it now. It would help to keep the threads from ravelling and preserve it better for future generations. What a beauty!! All our old heirloom quilts were used and used and used until they no longer exist... :?
Why not quilt it now so your Mum can enjoy it too?
