Still doing trials of Basketweave and am trying with larger pieces. That works, (BTW using starch is the bomb!) but thought I had it all figured out to go with one colorway - purple up to light green. Then just played and tried the rust print. I like that too! I'd already done navy up thru white as a first trial and liked that so I went to get some more fabric; ended up going completely different!

So. between the "rusty" print and the busy all-color print which one wins?

Busy or rusty?

Oh, I truly LOVE rust/russet with teals and blues. It gives it such a warm burst of contrasting color. I have a French Braid quilt with the points in russet and the rest in teals. I vote for the rust!!

shaverg 04-30-2010 09:51 AM

I really like the one with the rust.

MamaBear61 04-30-2010 09:54 AM

I like it with the rusty colour too, it really seems to add something

amma 04-30-2010 10:01 AM

The rusty!!! It has so much more interest to it :D:D:D

Thank you all! Buying the FQ of the rust was the only time I've bought one with no immediate use in mind! Knew it would work sometime.

I'm glad you all agree with my instinct! Will post when its finished!

virtualbernie 04-30-2010 10:45 AM

I agree with everyone else--rust

saganco 04-30-2010 10:47 AM

Yep, the rusty one is really SNAPPY!

LOL LOL LOL !!!!!!!!! My daughter (usually my fabric guru) walks in and sees the layout and says, "Your NOT going to put the rust with that are you?!!?". I just said, "Yes, WE think I should!"

shaverg 04-30-2010 11:48 AM

I am one that does not believe everything has to match or blend. It is important to spice things up every once in a while. LOL

Love the first one with the rust color. Going to be so pretty.

Same here - it really makes the weaving stand out.

KiwiQuilter 04-30-2010 01:08 PM

I like rusty - it gives the design warmth and depth.

mamaw 04-30-2010 02:25 PM

Rusty gets my vote!

QuiltMania 04-30-2010 02:41 PM

Rusty seems to pop more.

Kitsie 04-30-2010 03:02 PM

It'll be quite a while before I can afford to make a bed-sized quilt of it, but it was fun to try the "set-ins"!

skavanau 04-30-2010 03:16 PM

Busy one

marsye 04-30-2010 03:21 PM

Oh--rusty!! It makes the little flowers in the other fabric pop a bit. The busy is too busy for me.

I love the Whispers fabric--I made a Triple Irish Chain with it. So beautiful.

I love the first one . . and the second one . . but feel the first one shows the basket weave better! Great job!

Boston1954 05-01-2010 06:12 AM

Even though blue is my favorite color, I cannot decide. They both look great.

ranger 05-01-2010 06:25 AM

Bevanger 05-01-2010 06:26 AM

Quilter2B 05-01-2010 07:28 AM

RedGarnet222 05-01-2010 07:37 AM

Oh yes... the rusty one will be so perfect!

jdavis 05-01-2010 10:49 AM

The blues are pretty, but I find the multi-colored one more interesting.

pollyjvan9 05-01-2010 11:15 AM

I vote for the rust. Really makes the block pop.

rootyr 05-01-2010 11:20 AM

The one with the rusty strip!

PurpleBecca 05-01-2010 12:34 PM

Both lovely - rusty is good!!! BUT depends what you want to do!!!

nwm50 05-01-2010 01:34 PM
