Still doing trials of Basketweave and am trying with larger pieces. That works, (BTW using starch is the bomb!) but thought I had it all figured out to go with one colorway - purple up to light green. Then just played and tried the rust print. I like that too! I'd already done navy up thru white as a first trial and liked that so I went to get some more fabric; ended up going completely different!
So. between the "rusty" print and the busy all-color print which one wins? Busy or rusty? All blue |
Oh, I truly LOVE rust/russet with teals and blues. It gives it such a warm burst of contrasting color. I have a French Braid quilt with the points in russet and the rest in teals. I vote for the rust!!

I really like the one with the rust.
I like it with the rusty colour too, it really seems to add something
The rusty!!! It has so much more interest to it :D:D:D

Thank you all! Buying the FQ of the rust was the only time I've bought one with no immediate use in mind! Knew it would work sometime.
I'm glad you all agree with my instinct! Will post when its finished! |
I agree with everyone else--rust
Yep, the rusty one is really SNAPPY!
Ditto
LOL LOL LOL !!!!!!!!! My daughter (usually my fabric guru) walks in and sees the layout and says, "Your NOT going to put the rust with that are you?!!?". I just said, "Yes, WE think I should!"
I am one that does not believe everything has to match or blend. It is important to spice things up every once in a while. LOL
Love the first one with the rust color. Going to be so pretty.

I like rusty - it gives the design warmth and depth.
Rusty gets my vote!
Rusty seems to pop more.
It'll be quite a while before I can afford to make a bed-sized quilt of it, but it was fun to try the "set-ins"!
Busy one

Oh--rusty!! It makes the little flowers in the other fabric pop a bit. The busy is too busy for me.
I love the Whispers fabric--I made a Triple Irish Chain with it. So beautiful. |

I love the first one . . and the second one . . but feel the first one shows the basket weave better! Great job!
Even though blue is my favorite color, I cannot decide. They both look great.
Like the one with the rust color....more pizzazz.
Ok since I'm a scrappy gal, I have to go with the first one... Although both are very pretty. ohhhhh a hard desion (sp)
I like the rusty one too; gives it a nice splash of color.
Oh yes... the rusty one will be so perfect!
The blues are pretty, but I find the multi-colored one more interesting.
I vote for the rust. Really makes the block pop.
The one with the rusty strip!
Both lovely - rusty is good!!! BUT depends what you want to do!!!
all blue...it makes sense. The other one is okay too.
The first one gets my vote.
