That's what I've done quite a lot :D I like the way you said it!

Lovely quilt, even with your artistic twist ;)

Fuzzykittenbutt 11-24-2012 11:19 AM

haha, it took me *forever* to find the mistake! you're very lucky you noticed it now before binding and, I hope, quilting it!

SouthPStitches 11-24-2012 12:46 PM

Walk away from it, pour yourself a glass of wine and put your feet up. Situations like these make me really question why I continue to enjoy quilting!

javin22 11-24-2012 01:23 PM

I have done that only I didn't notice till I was quilting it. Blah!

ShabbyTabby 11-24-2012 01:38 PM

I call those "Design Innovations". I got one quilt all finished and found a boo boo but was NOT inclined to redo the darned thing...all my quits are either gifts to family or friends and what's a boo boo between friends or family??

Kooklabell 11-24-2012 02:06 PM

I felt like I was playing one of those "find X" games. It took me forever!! When I find something like this, I usually say well, Only God is perfect, and leave it :)

sassy granny 11-24-2012 02:35 PM

I had to hunt for it. I couldn't find it until you mentioned the location. It doesn't look like it will be too hard to take out and sew back in, all straight seams. I've made worse ones than that and had to take out. Wait until the time is right and it won't be too bad of a problem. Good luck. It is beautiful.

Thanks for the pattern name. I looked on the website & the pattern is no more, but I am going to call them Monday. Maybe they'll still have the PDF file & can email it to me.

lfstamper 11-24-2012 07:24 PM

Be like the Amish with an intentional mistake! It sure is pretty and you have to look hard to find it.

quiltsRfun 11-24-2012 08:32 PM

For anyone who's interested, I googled the pattern name and found it at this address.

Pretty quilt. Just be glad you noticed it before it was quilted! I once made a mistake that I didn't notice til after it was quilted.....I am still living with the mistake. I actually had thought of taking that part of the quilting out and fixing it, but then I thought I might make matters worse. It is only noticed if the quilt is hung up....using it as a throw, it would never be noticed, so I have "somewhat" excepted it.

sweetana3 11-25-2012 04:12 AM

I have had it twice and actually love the crazy misplaced block. I did Nellie's Wedding Quilt from Bonnie Blue and one block, each having four basket blocks facing the center, has the baskets all facing the wrong directions. It just makes me smile each time I find it.

Another, Virginia Bound by Bonnie Hunter, has half of one of the stars going the wrong way and again it was so funny to me that i left it. It was very disconcerting to my long armer but I still love it now that it is done and the block left the way it ended up.

Maybe i see the humor because I dont want to rework it. It reminds me always that we are not perfect.

Plumtree 11-25-2012 04:30 AM

I think most of us here have done something like that more than once. Know that its a beauty either way!

Mary O 11-25-2012 04:59 AM

Beautiful quilt, looks like you are an experienced quilter so fix it.:)

sniktasemaj 11-25-2012 05:01 AM

I can't see it.

donna13350 11-25-2012 05:16 AM

Been there, done that! You'll be happier with it corrected...just think of the end game! Very nice quilt!

ljptexas 11-25-2012 05:38 AM

It is sooo pretty. But I had to search to find it. You know these 'professional' eyes of ours! The one receiving it would never have seen it. But we want everything we make to be perfect, heh?

2manyhobbies 11-25-2012 06:09 AM

It took me a while and I had to use the hint posted. I can always tell someone else no one would notice, and most wouldn't, but being me I'd obsess over it so I'd have to fix it :-).

Native Americans weaving or bead work always had something out of place...in the beading it was called a "spirit bead" and it symbolized that no one on earth was perfect...the Great Spirit was the only perfect entity and those "mistakes" prove that we aren't perfect.....I'd leave it and go with that!!!

maryfrang 11-25-2012 06:22 AM

I know how you feel. I did it to a point on a big star quilt. I left it and the new owner loved it. I told her it was a mystery.

staring 11-25-2012 06:24 AM

I like it please leave it as an original

cpcarolyn 11-25-2012 08:08 AM

I see a wonderful surprise that made me laugh. But I know the feeling of wanting to scream

quilter68 11-25-2012 08:12 AM

Funny but I, too, notice things when I photogragh stuff.

DJ 11-25-2012 08:25 AM

It took me a while to find the mistake, and then it made me smile. I'd like to see it left there, but if it would bother you too much, you should fix it. Lovely quilt!

LindaMRB 11-25-2012 09:06 AM

well I found the boo boo but it would not be the first time I missed something like that.
It'll make a good story of the one that almost got away...

gertz 11-25-2012 09:16 AM

So sorry that happened. I was so good at doing this that a friend told me to go to a hardware store (lowe's, menards etc) and buy a door peep hole thingma jig and always look thru that. It shows any mistakes and colors that need to be moved. I love it. Beautiful quilt by the way

ube quilting 11-25-2012 09:24 AM

how lucky is that to find it before finishing. Patten looks complicated so it is understandable that something like this can happen in the piecing.

Your lucky day!
peace

nstitches4u 11-25-2012 09:32 AM

I don't think non-quilters will notice. Just call it "creative license" and go with it.

MargeD 11-25-2012 09:40 AM

Been there, done that, and unfortunately a few times after it's quilted and bound. Oops. Unless it's really glaring then, I leave it alone - after all don't the Amish put an intentional mistake in a quilt because only God is perfect. Unfortunately, I don't have to make the mistake intentional very often. LOL

OK, I really had to study it but I did locate it. I would call that artists interpretation and go with it.

This is so me....

matraina 11-25-2012 12:07 PM

O. K., you got me. What's wrong with it?

grandmaemma 11-25-2012 12:10 PM

I also had to really look...now that I see it, I see it :)

I did the same thing and have decided that since it is for my best and oldest friend of 45+ years she will understand that "Only God is Perfect" :)

carolynjo 11-25-2012 01:09 PM

We've all done something like that, I am sure. Glad you found it before it was quilted and bound. I did not find my error until I had quilted and bound it.

roserips 11-25-2012 01:48 PM

Happens all the time, that is your humility block, no one is perfect, no quilt has to be perfect. You may change it or you may leave it, it's all OK.

JoanneS 11-25-2012 01:56 PM

It took me a full minute to spot it. Aren't digital cameras wonderful. They must have been invented just for usquilters!

MaryAnnMc 11-25-2012 02:01 PM

It took me forever to find it, but once I did it now seems so obvious. Chances are, no one would have notice it for a long, long time. Guess I'd bite the bullet and rip it out.

MaryAnnMc 11-25-2012 02:02 PM

P.S.: It's gorgeous, and very well done (well, except for that little boo boo...). Someone will love it.

lpsewing 11-25-2012 02:41 PM

I looked over & over,then took a peek of the comments......can you tell I am still a newbie ?

Glad you were able to find prior to finishing,it is very lovely.

jojosnana 11-25-2012 02:44 PM

Take a break and start on it has a first project on another day! Don't wait too long though......
