Ongoing Handwork Project

3 Attachment(s)
Feeling a little slow today (just getting over bronchitis) so I though I would just take it easy, watch movies, and work on my ongoing handwork - a crazy quilt. As I was gathering up to get comfy in my chair I thought I would share pics of the work so far. I am a beginner at embroidery, mom is the expert and is slowly teaching me. I'm pleased how it is turning out so far.

Lovely. I love embroidery and use to do so much by hand. Cross stitch took over my obsession and then I bought an embroidery machine. Now I only do hand work when I am camping. Keep up the great job and thank your mom for sharing her talent with you!

I have always wanted to do a crazy quilt just never had the time. Yours is going to be gorgeous when finished, very nice so far. Thank you for sharing and thanks to your mom for getting you started on it.

Looking lovely! I used to get Bronchitis every winter until I started getting my flu shot in the fall. Don't know why it seems to help, it just does.

Thanks for sharing your Crazy Quilt with us,,, I have one to finsh, My mom gave me one that she started when My Dad was in the hospital with cancer. She even gave me the different fabrics to use to finish it. After Dad Died, she just couldn't pick it up again. So she is letting me finsh it, Thanks for giving me the small push to finish it while she is still with us, to help with the different stitches...

Girl if you are a beginner and do work like this then your Mothers work must be awesome. You are well on your way to being awesome also. BrendaK

Question: Do you draw the emb. Design then hand emb? And the stitching around each piece is hand done too? What is your background taffeta or silk?

It is going to be a fabulous quilt when you finish it. Your Mom is doing a spectacular job of teaching you to do embroidery work. I still have fond memories of my Mom teaching me embroidery when I was 6. You will always treasure your time together.

Some things I draw on first as I still need lines to follow. Yes the stitching around each piece is also by hand, right now to me that is the easiest to do. I used whatever shiny fabric I could find, I know it's not silk, can't afford that.
